Classic Resident Evils, especially the first one and its remake, are literally exploration- and puzzle-heavy adventure games by heart. Mapping out the environment at your own pace, and slowly unraveling its mysteries, all while battling the horrors of the mansion by planning routes and inventory loadouts, are all part of the charm.
I'd honestly recommend playing the OG RE1 first. Preferably the whole OG trilogy even. It makes the REmake 's experience even better.
