Why do people hate this game so much?

why do people hate this game so much?
sure, the story doesn't fit pac-man and the dialog is shit
but the platforming sections are great, and the controls are tighter too
the combat is boring, but it doesn't really feel that much of a slog compared to so many other platformers that did it

Too much combat and the combat isn't great, plus other weird oddities like how some levels just don't have any music and just the weird as fuck character designs
When the game is good it's pretty good but it isn't good often

The combat sucks and they focused heavily on it which drags down the entire game. I hate how so many third entries tried to shove some stupid gimmick fighting in, like Rayman 3.

It's not as great as 2 but I'd still say its worth a play, at least for how weird it is.
The platforming is pretty good, just too much annoying combat/spectral monsters bits.

At least he was voiced by a man. To this day I'll never understand why that nuPacman reboot happened. PacMAN has a wife and child. Why the fuck did they turn him into a squeaky voiced Brapman.

Are these genuinely worth a playthrough? I always thought they looked low effort and I never knew whether there was actually something to it or people just like it because they were kids at the time or something.

2 is one of the best platformers of the generation. Only bad part is the sub level.

>PacMAN has a wife and child. Why the fuck did they turn him into a squeaky voiced Brapman
Ghostly Adventures Pac-Man isn't THE Pac-Man. He's the last of the yellow Pac-People or some shit.

The game shoves in too many repetitive, unnecessary combat segments.

mind giving me a good short clip of a good level? don't even have to find one, you can just tell me a level and I'll look myself

I wasn't too fond of it either, like all the anons said, as far as I can remember. But 2 is the Bees Knees

>rayman 3
what are you on about, winding up a punch and locking onto enemies was dope as fuck

Yeah, the first time you do in. Then you realize you're going to be strafing in front of every brain dead enemy winding up multiple punches until they finally die.

Into the Volcano is a good one.

This game is a fucking fever dream. I'm willing to admit it's shit but the weird surreal vibe makes me love it.

it wasnt even a world, everything was inside of a big dome, literally no skybox

I only played the first one on Playstation and it was pretty good, are the others as good?

how is that problem exclusive to 3 though?

>There will never be another good 3d Pac-Man game
>There will never be another Pac-Man game as good as World 2
Life isn't fair.
2nd is the best but its slightly different in its direction but overall what a sequel should be. 3 is the black sheep of the trilogy but its still worth at least a try. But anyone who does like it still usually can see it doesn't have the same feeling as the other 2 anymore.

post yfw pacman world 4 is announced for next gen

It's literally a downgrade to what Pacman 1 and 2 were supposed to be.
>PW1 involved you traversing some ghost themepark to defeat a mechanical doppelganger that's piloted by some vengeful ghost
>PW2 involved you traversing Pacman's world to collect various golden fruits and defeat some ancient evil ghost

Compare to those two to the third
>PW3 involved you traversing ghost dimension which wasn't a thing in previous games, to defeat some non-ghost alien who happened to be sucking power out of the world
It clearly should've been similar to the first two in terms of tone but they decided to go for a more mature route with it, which ended up clashing up with Pacman's image.

It would make everything happening this year absolutely worth it.

Wasn't 3 gonna be a completely different game but had Pac-Man slapped on it at the last minute? I remember hearing something like that.

>mfw the big 40th Anniversary announcement was a fucking Minecraft crossover
At least we got some confirmation a few days back that Namco most likely finally has full control over Ms. Pac-Man so rereleases aren't a problem anymore

Ms. Pac-Man world is announced. How would you react Pac-Bros?

maze madness is the true depiction of what 3d pac should be and the real evolution of the OG gameplay. Don't @ me

don't know mate, could be fun but it looks pretty simple and for some reason very empty
where are dee visuals

because the combat is dogshit and that's what you do 60% of the game
a maze of madness 2 would be more possible

It's just not up to snuff when compared to 2.

You can tell they just ran out of time and money at some parts.
Supposedly when the Namco and Bandai merger was going through, Namco was forced to cancel a whole slate of games, including World 3, but Blitz begged for the opportunity to finish the game. Namco allowed them to do it, but they couldn't give them any more funding and the game had to be out by the end of 2005.

I swear to god I thought the Bugsnacks trailer was going to be World 4 for a minute. The trees looked like the ones in World 2's opening area to me, and the camera panned hard on a strawberry.
I thought Pac-Man was going to pick it up and eat it.
