I personally prefer games that don't take place inside a game since it feels like more is at stake when it is not. Also, if the players want to escape, they should just all call each other "niggers" and then they get autobanned.

It died with the //Infection series, afterwards becoming a Shonen which then turned into some weird cutesie manga thing. Worse still is they kept desecrating Kite's corpse. There was a lot of beauty and room to expand in this franchise, but after the first four PS2 games they squandered it into yet another generic rpg/anime/whatever hybrid. I'll always have fond memories of Infection and Sign, though.

Listen here you cocksucking zoomer: .hack came out around the time in certain parts of the world where MMO was new so the idea of an MMO that could be played offline in which you are a PC trapped online was a novel idea. The game also came bundle with an anime which events takes place outaide the game so you can get your wank too.
