its not hard to be a better game
I love 20XX to death but that game feels really unpolished

can you actually DASH in this one though?

when will indies makes their own games instead of glorious romhacks of [game devs played as a child]
worse than fucking chink bugmen i swear

Dashing was in the previous one too. Ace has Zero-like saber skills now instead of getting Nina's special weapons.
20XX was made during a huge-ass Mega Man drought and people wanted more Mega Man. It also kinda sucked in ways and they've stripped out pretty much all the bad even in pre-alpha.

The pixelization of the graphics is an insane improvement.

Oh, yeah, for sure, the artstyle is way more consistent. They've complained that it's a lot harder to give a visual cue for a powerup as a result (you'd need to sprite them with Dracopent/Oxjack/etc. armors on or layer parts over their sprites like the PS1 X games did) but that they're still looking into all that stuff.

>Demo only
>Rogue-anything
Nah, I'll pass.

20XX is really good

Tell me what 30XX does better though OP

from the looks of things everything all around

How many suits are there going to be? Are they going to stick to 4?

The physics feel tighter and closer to Mega Man X now as opposed to the floaty ones in 20XX.

>OST already completely kills the previous game's, all bosses will have their own boss-songs and stage themes
>Sprite-based artstyle doesn't have the paper-puppet animation that the previous games did and everything is a lot more visually coherent
>All bosses get their own stages, previous point about them getting their own stage themes and boss-fight songs as a result
>Ace doesn't get the same special weapons as Nina anymore, instead he gets saber techniques like Zero along with an "unleash blade" that gives him a Power specific to his weapon, the A-Saber's being a blade boomerang. Ace's skills are more about movement utility and effects, along with Zero staples like rising-saber/falling-saber, Nina's special weapons are now unique
>Sharp Sharp Spear renamed to Tonbokiri and given an unleash-blade that throws it, turns into a temporary platform on contact with a wall. New weapon Lucavi behaves like Model PX's kunai from ZX, has a Crissaegrim rapid-slash for an unleash-blade
>Bosses aren't DUDE BULLET HELL LMAO in pattern as 20XX's tended to be and behave like Mega Man/X bosses
>Cores and weapons have changed to count towards a point maximum that can be upgraded over the course of a run, so you can have multiple armor effects active and in Nina's case you can have multiple buster weapons active to mix effects
>Overall item philosophy changing to "lots of little upgrades over the course of a run" with huge upgrades being rarer, but still present
>Familiars being mostly or completely scrapped because they're not fun in a Mega Man-like game, you just stand there
>Physics have been tightened considerably and it feels a lot like Mega Man Zero
>Ace still has the beefed-up single slash as a charge replacement but they're going to give him something different later because the devs hate it

Now if only they could get rid of the cringy le 4th wall break humor.

>Try it
Stages are WAY THE FUCK TOO LONG without nearly as much health drops compared to 20XX.

I only noticed that kind of stuff when you're trying to jump over level boundaries.

Those're my favorite parts, though. Stages being harder out of the gate is very welcome, it'll make the modifiers to increase difficulty in the final game feel like they're actually doing something instead of making it as hard as it "should" be. Felt like health drops about as often as it does in an X game.

20XX
>Short stages
>Gloryholes were annoying as shit to complete and drops sucked unless you got lucky
>Final levels were ULTRA BRUTAL AND TOOK YEARS TO COMPLETE not including bosses
30XX
>LONG STAGES
>Gloryholes are piss easy and rewards are fantastic
>Final levels will inevitably be worse than 20XX's shit final levels AND the bosses will be absurd
>Present situation: Drops off enemies are nonexistant. Not just health, but memory chips and nuts and-
I have fucking HOPES for 30XX and Ultrakill but Ultrakill blew my expectations apart in 7 seconds into the actual gameplay with a gun. Must buy. Must waste.money

And that alone is more than gratuitous. Wow I'm playing a video game, thanks for pointing it out.

God damn that is the tiniest thing ever to have as a sticking-point. It's not even the straw that breaks the camel's back, it's the only straw.

>Gloryholes
wait what

No, thanks
Fuck off shill

You never read all the "lore" in 20XX did you? Well in that case good for you then.

glory zones
the game is pre-alpha, you can't even buy it you fucking idiot

Glory Zones. You enter them during a stage run and if you complete it, you get an armor piece. RNG be willing, you get towards a full set and ooga booga the rest of your run. Otherwise, you pray to jesus you get the fashion item that encourages mixed set parts for massive buffs. At least that's how it is in 20XX. 30XX has them too but they're piss easy, and a guaranteed armor drop at least in the demo.

The datalore explained the game's story, characters, what enemies do or are supposed to do and why they were first built, and that it's a "real Earth in da fyoochur where so-and-so happens" setting as an explanation for why turrets and shit are laying around. I genuinely don't know what you're trying to lead the conversation to here.

Go play Super Cloudbuilt

I want to fuck alia and nina, 20xx was fucking good and I have high hopes for 30xx

Is that even Nina though? If it is she got way more changes beyond a haircut.

I hate the mole enemies, they seem to blend in a little too much, and I wish Nina had long hair still. But aside from that I'm really looking forward to Nina's new game. It's really smooth, both her and Ace feel great to play, and I like the pixels they got going. And the "very pre-alpha" feels better than quite a few betas I've played.

It is, the "Contemplation" enemy gauntlet bits have a sprite of Nina's appearance from 20XX. Ace got a redesign but mostly to put his arms and legs in the same style as Nina's new look. Nina meanwhile got totally redesigned to pretty much look like X and Starforce Mega Man had a baby.
