The game was a spectacular commercial failure. Not VC4 levels of failure but still was very bad so there won't get a sequel.
Sega recently trademarked a bunch of names but that hardly means anything; standard procedure for many developers.

I like Sakura Wars, but the characters aren't that complex. They are stereotypes (Clumsy protagonist, high class girl, cute child, energetic girl, amazon, exotic aristocrat, androgynous)
