There is only so much shit you can do on an island.

Regular villagers dialogs and hourly music

Animal Crossing is peak FotM.

the series was always boring

NH brought in a lot of normies who bought into the marketing. It was bound to happen.
Same thing occurred for NL but social media and amount of players was nowhere near as big as it is now so you didn't see it as much.

>What went wrong with new horizons?
That its already a few months old now? How long are you supposed to play the same game anyway?

How much content did New Leaf have compared to New Horizons?

It turns out that people who jump into a series because of hype and not because they actually like it get burned out. Who knew

They rushed it out and planned to add more content through patches because in their eyes AC is now an MMO designed to waste your time through addicting practices.

Some things are inherent to the type of game its trying to be, some are just blunders/squandered potential
>Progression balance is completely ruined by turnips, two good flips and you pay off all debt, extremely easy to do if you look for it
>villager dialogue is extremely tedious
>events are interesting for 30 minutes tops
>updates are way too slow
>lots of progression is limited to dailies
>not much reward for getting things besides your interest in having those things
>little variety of gameplay, games like these could really benefit from little minigames that are accessible and playable with your villagers and online friends
>lack of qol issues that make some things a chore, mainly not being able to bulk craft (only thing I think is annoying)

Villagers of the same personality say exactly the same shit, music gets irritating, crafting is boring, and at one point you just stop caring for things besides the turnip prices, shaking trees for furniture and hitting rocks for coins.

Coupled with the fact that quarantine made people play this 16 hours a day when you're supposed to spend like 30 minutes of a day at max and how they're just gonna slowly release content as the months go, since it's now acceptable to make an unfinished game that will slowly get patched to it's intended result.

Honestly this. NH was a success only because of the lockdown and ignorant newcomers were disappointed even though it's a regular AC game.

New animal crossing games just aren’t special anymore.. been that way since new leaf

fucking shitloads
drip feed content was a mistake

Animal Crossing is a series for Japanese grandmas to play for 30 minutes every day for two years, not for quarantined 20-year-old Americans to binge play for 2 months, time traveling and all

Most of the people who played exploited the game, and did 90% of the content, then they complain. AC has always been a slow burn kinda game to be enjoyed in bursts. Add in the fact there is barely content to begin with too.

I played NL a ton more than NH, and it never felt like it was a chore to play unless i was farming the beetles. But then again ive only played the gamecube game prior to playing NL, so the series was still pretty fresh for me

I think the main reason i dont like NH is the idea that youre practically God of the island instead of just the mayor or just a citizen.

The hairstyles and wigs sucked.

I’m only still playing it is because my island is shit and I fucked up.

>Nintendo's only game this year is shit
>nintendies are finally done pretending it isn't
>major Sony release faces a massive spike in shitposting
Makes you think.

>Even normies are starting to hate it
They started to play AC due to it being popular in twitter. So as always time passes->hype dies.

>what went wrong

The first Animal Crossing.
All the games are boring, repetitive garden-tending games for women. That's the target market: Women.

No surprise with the amount of hours they've logged. I've seen players with 500-900 hours and shit like that

At least the appeal lasted longer than TLoU2.

fucking adhd zoomers

Hourly music is good though

Animal Crossing and Pokemon are Nintendo's designated shovelware series, they will never have a real game

yeah you're supposed to slow down with your gameplay, now you boot it up everyday just for 30 minutes to do a couple things, like a phone game really
you think normies would understand that
its not meant to be actively played, you just do stuff over time and sometimes they'll be a little more to do with like an event or something

its comf tho I am a little disappointed thus far with new horizons, the amount of content has suffered and things have been chopped up in to arbitrary scarcity, there's stuff that is hard to get that shouldn't be this hard to get

>MMO designed to waste your time
>includes daily's that are boring as fuck

the most correct answer of all time

>actual people: this game is shit there's literally no gameplay
>NPCs: who cares it's cute and comfy
days later
>NPCs: what went wrong?
Animal Crossing, much like Pokémon at this point, is just for new porn.
All enjoyment you get from playing the official games is purely placebo, wouldn't happen it it wasn't of the popular brands.

>500 hours of playtime
>What went wrong?
If they wanted to waste time, they got their money's worth.

but user, I'm enjoying xenoblade chronicles DE

>I ran out of things to do in this he after 1000 hours waahhhh

Die

binge-gaming ruined the industry
