They never wanted to do it in the first place, they were pestered into it.

Makes sense considering FE Heroes was their only big mobile hit

Honestly though, they pretty much fucked up with this whole entry into the mobile market by ditching paid app model with Mario Run and went onto pay-to-win gacha model. If they actually did make paid quality apps after Mario Run, then they would've fared much better given the fact that gacha model are always hit or miss, with miss for the majority of the time due to it's cheap poorly made gameplay.

I don't really mind them doing mobile stuff if they're just small side projects, but their efforts there so far haven't been exactly great.

They had to pretend to dig into mobile when the WIi U was failing but now that they're succeeding their investors can't say shit.
