When did Minecraft lose its appeal?

When did Minecraft lose its appeal?

It never did.

Adventure update was the start of a gradual process where the game started to go in too many directions other than the simple fun of a building sandbox with some basic enemies, and when microsoft took over the updates became incredible slow. While content has been added, and some people enjoy the new direction of it having weird half-baked rpg elements and an 'ending', I think for me and a decent amount of people it's just not the game we wanted it to be anymore. Mods are still fun though, but that's a given with how varied they've become.

Biomes. Completely ruined world generation and made it generic and static. Not to say they could not have had block variations like snow/desert but the sheer number of forced arbitrarily limitations of what block structures could go where ruined the whole world. Ironically Minecraft is less diverse than actual earth.

when you grew up

>Ironically Minecraft is less diverse than actual earth
Yeah, no shit.

Its a video game, it could have giant floating islands and things earth cant have easily by just tweaking world gen you retard.

It never had any appeal, it's interesting for a couple of days before you realize that there's no point to anything you're doing in the game. A world without limits or death will always result in this outcome.

After Notch sold it

hardcore mode?

I like the game, but it's been played to death and I don't really feel like playing again.

>Bad progression system
>Enemies are braindead simple to defeat
>No penalty for dying
It's only fun if you enjoy the building because survival was always terrible.

when you realized you were a faggot loser virgin with no achievements in life and now you can't enjoy playing meaningless video games

When he quit coming here and started posting on reddit. That's when I quit playing.

When you realize that content updates are a drip-feed of inconsequential additions, once you run out of things to do in whatever current version you first played you realize there will be nothing new to do in the game for years. Unless you're autistic theres no reason to play this game for longer than like a week to see what's new once every few years.

When I started playing, strangely. I don't know why, but the game seemed so much more magical when I was looking over the shoulder of someone else playing. When I actually got it, it just didn't have the same spark.

this. release 1.7 is where minecraft went to shit.

When they added biome colors

>hop on server
>HOPE YOU LIKE MCMMO AND AUTOMATED MESSAGES THAT CYCLE EVERY 45 SECONDS
>DON'T FORGET TO DONATE FOR SWEET PERKS
>log
>don't open minecraft for months

Fantastical =/= diverse
It can't really have all the unique weather and erosion-based terrain in the real world unless it's all hardcoded in, so it's really not plausible for world generation to ever be even remotely as diverse as the real world

Never

just find a vanilla server with a small community

microsoft bought it and fucked it up

>Minecraft
>lose its appeal

The microsoft version is totally separate though

Plenty of people still play Minecraft. It just lost its appeal to you and I.

That being said, there isn't really a substantial amount of content. Sure building and exploring with friends is good fun, but it can only take you so far. It doesn't really have that sense of progression that something like Terraria has.

I don't get it, this image looks EXACTLY like Minecraft now.
What are all of you crying about?

The same reason as RS3, they fucked with the combat.

Even those are still begging for votes at the very least. Or worse, they're nearly dead and the players won't communicate or trade.

Are you fucking blind?

It got boring when everything became a factory. The hunger system necessitated a production line of food so as to not interrupt play, and since then it’s all anyone ever does on MP. Construct enormous machines to continually generate any kind of material in the game practically. There’s no more point playing.

Anyone feel like there are useless stuff such as gold tools and leather armor etc?

When updates started dropping once a year, and said updates were shit.
also hunger

When Jeb stopped updating.

I still play it in short bursts for a couple of weeks, get bored, then come back 6 months to a year later and repeat the process.

I get what you're saying, but randomly generated terrain can certainly have more variety than what's naturally created on Earth. it's just a matter of not restraining it, and leaving your generation 'rules' loose

It's really only fun on the right servers or with friends. Little point playing it by yourself

No, that will never be as diverse as the real world
It'll be wackier but it won't be more diverse

You lose a pretty substantial amount of exp for dying though?

you don't even need to do this, just make a cow crusher and you'll have steaks forever, getting food is so fucking easy that it's more an inconvenience at this point. making factories for stuff is really the only fun thing left to do once you've finished exploring anyway.

>gets 40 levels from a mob grinder in 5 minutes
Heh, nothing personnel

Oh. I would play the "hard" way and naturally build up levels. Building mob farms and using all kinds of enchanted stuff removes the challenge and a bit of soul.

It never had any appeal for non-zoomers.
Stacking cubes with ugly soulless textures on top of each other. Wow, so exciting.
>inb4 b-b-but the guy was posting on 4channel this gayme is muh Zig Forums culture
fuck off, he had one job of making his shitty alpha into a good game, and he failed. What a fat jew.

It never did, but the hunger system and combat update were total net negatives.

Fuck you factory farmer cunt

>make lego game
>demand he makes not lego game
>get mad when he doent make not lego game
amazing

Reply to this post if you're a mickey joe's RID chad

no good game play mechanics. It's essentially a sand box

>mine quartz
>explore any cave and kill things
>makes any craftable item of any kind
It's not hard to get experience. Artificially limiting yourself does not make a realistic scenario.

flaot

There's a lot to dislike about the updates, but I never understood the hunger bar bitching. Just eat cooked meat lol. Carry around half a stack and basically forget about it.

Not trying to defend microsoft but Notch wasn't called lazy for nothing.

>5 blocks to trap cows on a single space is factory farming
what are you, vegan?

>zoom zoom zoomie zoomerinos
Zoomers were maybe 9 years old when alpha came out, you history rewriting neoboomer faggot. The primary audience was millenials.

Oh I'm sure all that money makes him really think he's a failure, dipshit. Why are weeb posters so goddamn dumb?

When he removed the floating islands world type.

what exactly does this add to the game except tedium?

or just convert thousands of sticks into thousands of golden carrots with villagers

terrain generation is the main problem I have. Mountains aren't big enough, there aren't enough cool plains cliffs. Look at all the terrain in the marketing and stuff, it's so much better than what tends to be in the game

It’s a negative with no positive. It doesn’t need to exist all

The fuck were they thinking with those flying phantom enemies? Annoying as fuck and there's always fifty of them circling you at all times whenever you go at night. I'm not a faggot so I don't use bring bow and arrows with me, such boring enemies to deal with. Either stop exploring and just wait for them to come down and hit them or run around exploring, forget they're there and they'll hit you from behind every twenty seconds or so. Such low IQ game design, who's the idiot that approved that enemy?

>pedophile is completely fucking braindead newfag
shocking

cave update never ever

usually my strat for emerald trading is just to get a fortune 3 diamond shovel and mine out one of those gravel valleys and sell all the flint

The problem is, if you're below full food, you don't heal. You have to keep eating to keep the regeneration from stopping, too. Then, after you've downed 30 steaks and don't need to max out the bar anymore, everyone from 9-3 hunger bars means absolutely nothing, and the only change at the end is you can't sprint below 3 bars. It's just tedious and unnecessary.

>whats the big deal guys just eat stuff and it's nothing
So why even have it? That's the point of the bitching.

Just sleep bro

It didn't. It's better than it's ever been. Everyone gets bored with it eventually. But they'll keep adding content and you'll come back to to it some years down the line and have fun again.

>The fuck were they thinking with those flying phantom enemies?
There was a vote for a new mob type and somehow phantoms won despite being the objectively shittiest out of all the options. It really fucking sucks. Just fyi though tamed cats will scare away phantoms

BOTW did food properly, you make cool means that give different buffs, but require experimentation to figure out different recipes. There's game play there that increases the agency of the game. Food in Minecraft is a simplistic system that doesn't increase agency at all it just requires every player to do something.

It allows farming/hunting mechanics to exist and be necessary. If you don't need the food, a large element of the game is gone. Some of these autists love their fucking farms.

Never did. It's a great game inside and out. Better with friends too.
Vanilla is for building and redstone autism, while you have modded for adventuring.
The new update is absolutely a step in the right direction, and the nether doesn't feel like an empty useless shithole anymore.
My main issue with mods is how there aren't enough that just augment the game (not fix bugs but augment) on the current version without giving something that *feels* too modded.

>The problem is, if you're below full food, you don't heal.
That's not true. You keep healing until your lose a certain amount of food.

>but I never understood the hunger bar bitching
Apparently it's from people who don't even play the game, if we go by this fool's comment
