Microsoft weren't even honouring this fault with warranty replacements for a long time and people just went and bought a new console every time it happened. The absolute state of gamers retardation was shocking.
I'll never trust Microsoft consoles again after this shit.

I got fucked by the RRoD. Fuck you Microsoft, never again.

Also their engineers new about this fault and warned higher ups but they didn't give a shit. It took about 4 or 5 revisions and several years to fix.

Stop smoking crack, microsoft was footing the shipping to and from to fix this issue.
It happened twice to mine, both times fixed free of charge.

This is why the PS3 won the 7th gen

I bought a ps3 and never had an issue with any console I owned in my life.
I wouldn't stop buying playstation consoles because microsoft fucked up.

Happened to me 3 times
Once when Halo 3 released, I had the game but my console was with Microsoft getting repaired.

Playstation tends to "win" console wars by default since the competitors just shit themselves.
The Wii was just a wagglan gimmick.
The 360 had a shit controller and red ring'd.
The Wii U is a joke (but at least I got to play the entire megaman battle network collection again after I lost my GBA versions)
The Xbone has no games.

Not only does the Xbone not have games but Microsoft fucked their own asses with the launch of the console. Always online, kinect required, game discs being usable only on 1 console at a time. Jesus.

I had two 360s rrod, both out of warranty. Was a huge pain in the ass, but didn't pay a dime to get them replaced. Had the disc drive die on my ps3, which was also out of warranty. Sony didn't do shit for me. RROD was a huge inconvenience and pretty fucking embarrassing for Microsoft, but at least you knew they were willing to cover their fuck ups.

How did the 360 manage to dominate early and mid 7th gen with such a huge hardware problem and paid online? Was the PS3 just THAT lacking?

Ps3 was more expensive
and maybe it was an exciting time for Microsoft, Windows XP released shortly before the 360 did.

XP was four years before the 360.

Playstation also got hacked repeatedly, had their playstation.net interface down many times, was more expensive, oh and by sending certain messages they could brick it.

Didn't have an issue with mine until my brother decided to memorycard glitch a game to cause it to speedhack and overheated+bricked the console.

xbox live was far superior as well as plenty of games to play on it

Lets not forget it was only a few years ago that the PSN got hacked and people found out there was absolutely no protection for card details.

xBox was the first console to actually do online games well and the 360 capitalised on it. It threw things like gears of war and halo 3 as big name shooters early on which the average casual gamer ate up while PS3 had nogames

with halo infinite coming this next gen is looking like a rerun of 360 era

What about the time 8 years ago where PS3 got hacked and everyones CC+addresses got leaked.
For a good 2 years if i remember right, ps3 had like 30 games and xbox had over 100.
