no the reality is that new games are so unsufferably fucking garbage that it's hard to find one that's even sincerely trying to be entertaining at all. too many modern games go out of their way to preach some modern day parallel or message when like I just want to play a fucking game and have fun.

like if I wanted a grand parable I don't think I want that from a business in the first place I probably want that from an individual artist. not that large teams can't try and communicate something in a meaningful way. but it's a little easier when that isn't dependent on 50-1000 people feeding their families who literally could not give a shit about the material outside of their paycheck or it being a stepping stone to their own story they want to tell.

this is bullshit. most movies and theater plays are collaborative projects where actors, script writers and even musicians can contribute to the final project. projects with too much control often end up terribly. that said, DQXI is a very well done, traditional hero's journey. it's basically the platonic ideal of the hero's journey, nothing about modern parable. neck yourself
