She at least gets some hope though, when it's implied she and Lev actually reach the Firefly base on that island at the very end (the new main menu screen you get after beating the game). Ellie gets nothing, she can't even play guitar after Abby bites off her fingers. She's forced to leave behind Joel and her life and move forward to who knows what.

It was pretty scuffed, especially because they twist the themes unintentionally and of course you need to be very generous to ignore the "ludonarrative dissonance" of the massacre characters do to achieve their revenges

My only problem with this game was the pacing and structure of the story.

Honestly, they should have just started with all of Ellie's flashbacks and then make you play as Abby from the point in which her father gets killed by Joel, up until she finally finds and kills Joel with the golf club or until Owen and Mel get killed by Ellie. That would've made the normies at least empathize a little bit more with her and at least make them understand why Abby killed Joel.

I liked the slow reveal of how ellie knew that joel killed the fireflies. one of the devs I talked to said the original structure had the game switching between abby and ellie, i think its better how it is though.
