I hate the fact that survival games have destroyed survival games
You ever browse Steam, see a nice looking survival game and get excited just for a moment before remembering that it's probably terrible?
I saw "Mist Survival" and had that split moment of excitement and disappointment. As is tradition, it has of course been in Early Access for the last two years. Recent reviews are dropping. Negative reviews complain of terrible balance and aweful grind. This might as well be a Steam page for any other survival game.
I feel that to me this genre is the biggest wasted opportunity. I just want the experience of roughing it in the woods and killing monsters at night. I swear the last time I enjoyed survival was the first time I played Minecraft.
As it turns out "survival" is actually just a boring grind, should've paid more attention in history class

The OP image is proof that Asians are not "trad".

Is there a comfy survival game? Like I want to play Animal Crossing and built a shelter but have it on a big colorful deserted island and without any shitty NPCs.
yeah me too haha now shut up and post the code, faggot

This tbqh. Survival games don't work in practice. Video games need to have a structure and a clear goal to be truly engaging, however this contradicts the genre's entire point. Not only that, survival mechanics either amount to ridiculous meter management that forces you to grind or they end up a minor nuisance that might as well not be in the game.

Yeah... survival games now bring up the same feelings I had for "zombie games" during the "zombie games" craze - a genre I like and think has tons of potential but its image has been destroyed by tons of simply bad games, eventually causing everyone to give up on it.
Same thing is also happening to basebuilders, everyone just copying each other and nobody actually finishing or improving on the genre, until it falls into obscurity and becomes a curse word like the others.
Ofc there are some exceptions but generally speaking, I don't think there is a game that fully realized the potential of these genres at all.
can dying your hair, eyebrows, having no hair anywhere else (beard, arms, basically show no brown or black hair) and wear blue or green contacts make you look white? do you look just like person from the phillipines

Trad Asians stay within their own race.

The only survival games that do it right are progression based ones. you start off as a dirty naked hobo and eventually craft your way up into being a somebody. shame too many of them are still too grindy

to anyone who wants a good game with zombies: play dying light. it came out amidst the zombie craze and was overlooked. It has the best 3D first person parkour i have seen in any game, a good story that is a nice turn from the stereotypes and a beautiful atmosphere.
why not also why focus on race why would you limit yourself

When I see "survival" as a tag my mind still immediately goes to a horror experience. The survival being trying to not get butchered by monsters while you sneak around some creepy area. Always disappointed when I remember "survival" just means you constantly have to eat and drink.
