Honestly though.
I finished FFXV, Royal edition, a few days ago, and seriously, it's not such a bad game. It did some things right, for example, out of every final fantasy game, I feel like XV is the one in which the characters behave the most "human" if you get me, Noctis and co really feel like they are good friends, they mess with each other, are competitive, get in arguments but stick together always, and Noctis himself is a good character, even without trying too hard to be one, he felt pretty natural.
But the combat has a lot of flaws that keep it from being great. While each character has a distinct fighting style, with Noctis being the most interesting one with his directional inputs and combos from switching weapons on the fly, airsteps, arminger and unique weapons (though if I were to guess, it was probably fruit of many updates and the combat was also much more limited on release). But the problem is that there are many things that are counter intuitive for a good game in it, some examples, a lot of enemies have instant, unreatable attacks that cause a lot of damage and have terrible hitboxes, some even have instant INSTA KILL moves like the coeurs and the necromancers, which make the combat less enjoyable, but at the same time, items completely trivialize the game, since they are very easily available, stop time when used, and have insanely strong effects.

Basically it is an alright game that gets treated like a terrible game around here, but then again it was probably a terrible game back on release day so I can't judge.
