I've been out of wrestling for a few years mostly but I did still see kids and young adults at Japanese shows. Young Japanese women love some of these dudes.
Also if we're talking directors that love wrestling we have to mention Suda51. The guy did the Keiji Muto thing live onstage at the Switch reveal show (confusing the fuck out of his live translator) and puts suplexes into his games just because. He also wrote a story for Fire Pro Wrestling World that's a sequel to the Fire Pro story he wrote back in '94.
