A lot of people who love Deus Ex are intimately familiar with the first level because they reinstall it then remember that Liberty Island sucks. Game picks way the fuck up after that. Honestly the game picks up at the end of Liberty Island when you get to talk to the terrorist leader.

it's not really fun by today's standards, much like OoT or FF7, the only reason you should want to play these games is to understand the primitive concepts that have been improved upon for 20 years

deus ex has the added bonus of accurately predicting a lot of modern day issues in its storyline, which is fun, but you can enjoy the dialogue on YouTube

What's bad about Liberty Island? It's a good level, a bit on the simple side compared to later stuff but there's still plenty of different paths, routes and secrets to keep it interesting
