Everytime i see someone talking about Role Playing in online games i think of the old Zig Forums poster who was trying to RP a highwayman and eventually just turned into a self professed "Michael Myers". Making a slutty looking erp looking girl character who lured characters off for erp and killed them after letting them know he had been stalking them for days, with evidence left behind on purpose and eventually the whole server was afraid, paranoid and forming militias going house to house trying to catch him but they never did.
Have you ever been an actual public menace in a videogame?
roleplayed as a charming serial killer in morrowind. it was actually really easy with this mod where if I got someone's disposition up high enough I could ask them to follow me. took them to my parents house and murdered them in the basement after torturing them
Christopher Young
I adore the Dark brotherhood in Oblivion, mostly for the silly mansion quest, but i can't imagine doing it with other players.
James Williams
thats because you arent high iq like us serial killers
Grayson Ramirez
>my parents house >morrowind hahahaha
Wyatt Diaz
well yeah I was roleplaying as an adopted breton boy with dunmer parents
that sort of behaviour was culled from almost every major online game, as dying "under unfair circumstances" makes people spend less money on a game
old UO has a bunch of great stories like that if you want more, though
Isaac Cooper
The fact that the ability to meaningfully roleplay in Morrowind is functionally absent, and worse, his retarded character background contradicts the Nerevarine prophecy. Don't you fucking post kino screenshots at me, you tasteless pleb. You are undeserving.
Landon Harris
But the prophecy was bullshit.
Jayden Jones
>meaningful roleplay did you forget how to pretend?
I've met people like you. Please understand that there isn't a wrong way to have fun and that you need to shower right now.
Jonathan Turner
I wasn't even stutter-typing in so I'd appreciate it if you fucking caught up with the rest of class. You are so wildly wrong that I have to question if you actually played the game. There's nothing "wrong" with recontextualizing your own actions in Bethesda games, but it's always cringeworthy. That user's "adoptive parents", for example, didn't have any dialogue or AI behaviors that support his background. It's dumb shit he made up with literally zero backing in the game. It'd be like playing D&D and suddenly stopping the party to monologue about how it's not fair that you just slaughtered those goblins because you had had a torrid love affair with their chieftain, and the DM stops you to say "That wasn't on your sheet" and you just fucking ignore him and your impatiently waiting fellow players to keep expositing.
Nathan Peterson
I missed out on DAoC, but I was always the one being griefed, not the griefer. I miss the thrill of actually having to protect myself in online worlds, though
tried to find the griefer/PK stories I used to read, but as I imagine they were all hosted on shit like geocities, google turns up nothing, apologies user
Bentley Parker
No the whole point of it was "Anyone who followed the prophecy became the Nerevarine" it wasn't a chosen one story at all. All the shit like becoming immune to Corpus was player agency.
Benjamin Hall
I fucking knew you were a shit DM. Fuck off and get a different hobby.
Jonathan Fisher
That's not how the literal goddess of fate works, you sperg, and don't you dare try claiming that's actually Herma-Mora's domain. Work on your reading comprehension, brainlet.
Ayden Cooper
>someone having fun differently than my rigidly defined definitions of role play is cringe Go organize some change by date or amount of corrosion.
Justin Ortiz
My absolute favourite is "The Legend of Angwe". Some rando Orc player in Vanilla WoW who kept a major travel route, a dock that shipped players to the other continent, one of only two on said continent at the time to boot, on total lockdown. People begged him to let them pass, they raged, they formed militias to try and fail to kill him, they formed cults to worship him. He was the biggest asshole ever and god bless him.
He was such a notorious shit he got his own hearthstone card.
The real cringe is how prideful you sound expressing your shit opinions on what is and isn't fun. Try looking at people's facial expressions during your next game.
Owen Bennett
You are wrong, autistic and need to go back to /tg/.
Thomas Roberts
how the fuck do you get this triggered by someone just saying they were roleplaying in morrowind?
>There's nothing "wrong" with recontextualizing your own actions in Bethesda games, but it's always cringeworthy. That user's "adoptive parents", for example, didn't have any dialogue or AI behaviors that support his background. It's dumb shit he made up with literally zero backing in the game.
It's called using your imagination, playing pretend, and suspension of disbelief
Oliver Sanders
What a loser, its literally a single player game and you are getting mad at how people have fun.
Daniel Collins
These people are the ultimate "if you don't play it my way I'm not just going to take my toys and leave- I'm going to make everyone else suffer for it" kinds of autistic. This is what happens when friend's are too polite to tell you you're a fucking obnoxious troglodyte and instead you fail upwards.
I played through vanilla and there was no where that this could of been done at. Do they mean the Booty Bay docks? Everyone was camping that one 24/7 since stranglethorne was a garbage zone.
Not to mention some chump would of probably procced a crit and one-shot him if he really was doing it
