3.9M copies, not bad or good

As of now, there’s 3.9M copies out there that have been sold (or less). I say or less, because this data is scraped from PSN’s servers of who owns the game. And each user profile counts as a unique user, you could have multiple on the same console and it’ll be counted. So yeah, 3.9M or less so far. No where near the numbers they’re claiming it to have surpassed, this game is still lagging heavily behind many PlayStation 4 Games on the market and nowhere near spiderman. Considering Horizon Dawn’s budget was $45M; it’s reasonable to say this is at least $100M. By these copies, 3.9M multiplied by the $60MSRP means they’ve earned 240M dollars; which let them break even and pocket $140M or less (we don’t know the marketing budget for Sony so it’s definitely less). Again, nowhere near as successful as many games that have sold more than this, and there are a lot more PS4 games that have sold better

Is this for international or specific regional players?

Call me when it surpasses goat simulator or jet pack joyride ps4 edition. Or mlb the show or knack. Or NBA2K 2011 or worms battlegrounds. Or Deus ex mankind or monster energy super cross. Or ufc 2010 or max Payne 3

>4 million in the first weekend doesn't count it failed!
Incredible levels of cope

Learn to read.

International, all PS4 users around the world. Of 3.8M TLOU2 buyers, only 3.6 have played the game as you can read in the pic (first trophy is obtained automatically and doesn’t require any effort or initiative at all).

This is the fastest selling PlayStation exclusive 'ever' with these numbers.

OH NO NO NO!

I mean considering the PlayStation 4 has about 110 to 115 million install base. This is a heavily marketed game and a sequel to one of the most popular PlayStation titles in the past. I always knew that initially it would have success despite overall quality and appreciation. But seeing the consensus come out and there being no positive reception from any place that discusses video games and even amongst normies having conversations with each other I do not say this game having legs in the long run. So yes, I think more damage has been done than good. People are going to be very hesitant on anything this developer does in the future especially if they keep the same person in charge

thats really good numbers jesus

20 million copies my ass

this board has serious issues with sales

you shit on journos, yet you use metacritic scores to shitpost

then you claim popular stuff is shit because normies, then you complain about sales not being enough and acting you know shit about sales or the budget behind games.

Note: This is only the people who bought the game digitally and/or connected their PS4 online with the game disc.
We are lacking the segment of gamers who only bought the game but hasn't gotten around to playing yet and/or haven't connected online.

Are you sure about $100m? ME:A costed $75m which also includes marketing. TLoU2 probably costed at least $120m and that's a generous estimate.

>costed

faggot

Zig Forums is a ESL friendly bored go back to /poll/

I think that makes it the fastest selling game this year, FF7R did 3.5 million in 3 days

OI SHUT IT DOWN

you are comparing games that are almost 10 years old to a game that was just out last week, it will pass them eventually

Here’s some more stats for you. 40% of North America (which consists of the USA & Canada; more in the USA) make up the portion of ownership base. Western & Northern Europe make up 31%, including UK (UK has bulk of purchases). And 12% in Asia, specifically South Korea and Thailand.

The most important statistic is lifetime sales and engagement. Currently, we have to wait for lifetime as how fast it is selling in a week is a moot point if it ends up dropping into a cliff, which has happened to many games. Currently, no one has did second replays of TLOU2 which would be counted (it’s currently at 0). For comparison, Spyro 2 & 3 has more existing users replaying the games at 58K and 57K respectively. As well as goat simulator at 100K. Note that TLOU2, while a long game, consists of cutscenes that take up half of the entire game. Even batman’s Telltales has 19K returning users replaying the game.

If by the end of this year these numbers don’t improve, TLOU2 would be considered a hyped up glass canon. We need to wait and see but these numbers need to improve if they’ve really want to claim that TLOU2 is the best game on the console. It’s too early to decide on that and I suspect the hype is not only because of shilling for Sony but the further desire to sell more copies of the game and give an illusion that this is the best thing ever for the PS4.

Zig Forums bros....we...lost....

maybe all time but definitely not within a month or release

Source?
>some shitty image
Not a source. The game is selling worse than Battleborne

>Are you sure it’s 100M
That’s why I said at least, could be more but that ballpark

Internet penetration in the USA is 100% among PS users and 97% in European users, so it’s safe to say this is the actual reflection of people playing the game. If this was Africa, you’d have a valid point but it isn’t Africa.

cope

>it will pass them eventually
That’s the thing though. No one knows if it actually will. Everything on the news is just hype and sony shills. If this shit stalls, then it’ll be a laughing stock. Imagine spending big money to make a small return when those fucking games made infinitely more money without the overhead costs, political agendas, and marketing budgets.

imagine coping this hard
why cant you people accept that you lost and that you are on the wrong side of history?

I am just saying that there is a segment of people who haven't connected online yet. Not that they don't have internet. Some people simply just doesn't hook it up OR they simply haven't put the game in and started playing yet. There are people who buy games and never play them, you know that right?

Zig Forums+Zig Forumseddit btfo yet again
you people never learn

I am aware of that, which is why I’m more inclined to believe it’s in the 3.9M range. I don’t believe it’s as much as 5M copies at this very moment simply for the fact that PS owners are more likely to connect their console to the internet than any other console holder on the market. As time progresses, this counter will go up and it’s to be expected. But to think that there’s a considerable bulk of unconnected TLOU2 owners playing the game is silly. A few hundred or thousand I believe so. But millions or half a million right now just isn’t believable, because there’s an psychological incentive to being connected to the PSN network. I want Zig Forums to have an easy head on their shoulders and realize it’s too early to say it’s flopped or succeeded in terms of copies sold, since we need to wait a while to make a judgement call on that. The more informed this board is, the less shitposting there should be on both sides. I’ll be monitoring spongebob because this board is obsessed with him as well and will report back in a few weeks

>I’ll be monitoring spongebob because this board is obsessed with him
Can you blame Zig Forums? Spongebob's cool.

Bioware couldn't be stopped until mass effect 3 and the the disaster that unfolded after that. No one is saying that the next time or even that after that naughty dog is going to fall. But the wheels are starting to turn.

I agree. 4M is likely the maximum. 3.9M is the "confirmed" amount or players.
