Anyone else find it hard to go back to 3 after V?

No. 3 still had superior gameplay. V had potential and was definitely good at times, but it's pretty samey and you need to make your own fun most of the time.
MGS3 still threw the occasional large interior at you with the disguise gameplay to mix things up. In V there's hardly any.

>3 had superior gameplay
no shot bro take off ur nostalgia goggles

V is so much fun. The only other Metal Gear game I return to is MGR. If I feel like going back to the older games I usually just end up watching some cutscenes on YouTube

3 will always have more soul.

Ground Zeros is not only the best Metal Gear game, it’s the best Kojima game, regardless of its length

yeah the only MGS games I play nowadays are V and 2 cuz it’s gameplay is that nice arcadey style

I find it hard to "play" any stupid moviegame with shit controls. Take this shit to Zig Forums where it belongs.

level design and structure is a part of the gameplay. 5's stupid boring missions ruin the gameplay

Yes but I have an average human being's attention span which is 3x as much as an average Zig Forums MGS faggot so I don't need magic anime bullshit every 30ft in my open world to enjoy it

>No. 3 still had superior gameplay
user what? I loved the soul, atmosphere and story of 3 over 5 but 5 had the best gameplay by far. This isn't even up for debate. 3 literally had jungle corridors. Stop it with the nostalgia. Games age. Gameplay gets updated and improved.

3 remade to play like 5 would be the best.

As someone who's only played V, I feel that's it's less of a stealth game and more just a weapons sandbox. If you really wanted too, you could run the entire game just crouching and tranquilizing any enemy that spotted you. It's fun, but I don't consider it really stealth.

Why is Volgin so damn hard on European Extreme (trying to do non-lethal cqc takedown)
Easy getting to the second phase but then I'm wrecked.
To answer your question, I'm finding it "hard" in the sense it's more challenging, but that's a good thing.

it's been a moment since i played mgo3 but i still pop in to it every now and then
the ps4 community for it is just too fun
game's pretty fun still though

eh not really, i find it a real apples to oranges comparison. they are just very different games even if they are both MGS. MGS3 is probably my favorite game ever and i would say it has more soul than V, but V is great in its own right and is pretty fun. imo it is great accomplishment of V that it could be so different than the other MGS games yet still be fundamentally and recognizably MGS

People always seem to hate on MGO3 here but it's great desu, certainly better than MGO2.

>MGS3 still threw the occasional large interior at you with the disguise gameplay to mix things up. In V there's hardly any.
Preach, in MGSV I don't think there's any interiors at all if you discount the usual storage room every now and then. We were promised something that would greatly expand upon the vastness of Omega Camp in Gitmo, in MGSV, but the "closest" we got to it was the Nova Braga Airport in Angola, and I use "closest" in the most liberal use of the word.

>implying

ok Doug

been ages since I beat it on EE but for the second stage I remember you can always run behind him when he starts shooting and do the cqc throw and roll into him. tumble over the floor level electric beams, and remember to crouch as he gathers all the bullets to do the wide range bullet scatter. Also you can throw the glow mushrooms to attract the electricity away from you. Also throw on Raikovs mask for a cheap shot. When he’s down just tumble into him over and over.

you've never played metal gear solid, and it shows.

Cheers man
I keep getting thrown by how trying to get some whacks with the SAA in during phase two gets you electrocuted.
People say Dark Souls bosses are hard but this is more challenging than any of those to be honest.

Play Ground Zeros, it's so much better than V. It's by far the best MGS game, there's a mod for PC users to make V more like GZ, so there's no retarded Fultoning system, you can't be a one man army, there's more enemy troops and the world is more alive, ect.

No. The more I look and play V the more I consider it a Far Cry game with a MGS skin. It's a bland competent shooter with a pathetic open world, everything done through menus and horribly boring level design.

>there's a mod for PC users to make V more like GZ, so there's no retarded Fultoning system, you can't be a one man army, there's more enemy troops and the world is more alive, ect.
please tell me you're not talking about Infinite Heaven

You got something against IH? Go fuck yourself.

>3 literally had jungle corridors
as opposed to big open fields you barely have stealth through?

Not so much. I think MGSV at its best is great, but even though MGS3 can be sloppy with mechanical balance (not that MGSV is flawless there either) it does an exceptional job of injecting variety in the level design.

There are a few areas that stand out in MGSV, like the airport, the oilfield, and the place you retrieve Volgin's body, but a lot of the game blurs together. It's still a far better time than PO or MGS4, but there are large stretches of the game that can get pretty boring. Africa in general is a travesty of a map.

I could replay MGS 1-4 any day and have a blast. If I wanted to replay MGSV it would take a week of me repeating the same boring shit 50 times with no entertaining story to back it up.

>3 has better gameplay
literally what the fuck

You don't know what a movie game is when you think any of the Metal Gear games are movie games. The only part of the entire series worth putting on the level of movie games is the hospital sequence in V, and that is literally 1% of the whole game.

Should I fire up the Vita and give MGS another play bros? I also have the MGS Legacy Collection on PS3 I think which is packed in my closet somewhere. I liked MGS a lot when I was a teenager but I grew out of it when I stopped playing on console.

>3 still had superior gameplay
you're delusional if you actually think this. V had the best gameplay in the series, bar none

V is probably the best game ever made in terms of pure gameplay and control
