Gaming in Linux is a complete failure and no company cares enough to port their games to a 1% of the PC market share.

yet somehow this is not enough for you faggots
you are willing to tolerate Microsoft pushing barbed wire deep into your ass just because they also allow you to play latest AAA game that is trying to trick you into giving all your money to jews
Imagine how much better world could be if all the money that goes for microtransactions would go towards funding development of free and open source software

Come on now. You can install Steam via GUI package managers. You can change system settings by launching your favorite text editor with admin privileges. That's not the reason Linux isn't relevant for gaming.
The actual reason is that things already work on Windows so most people don't see the need to switch, so most people keep using Windows, so most developers keep targeting Windows.. If MS were to say that Windows will cease to work on x86 processor support and all backwards compatibility was dropped, Windows would be instantly dead.

>having to tinker with the command line just to get steam working
last time that was needed was when Steam for Linux was in closed beta. That was in what, 2013.
Update your FUD to something that is actually valid argument

I would give money to Godot if they added native support to DirectX and Metal.
Until then, I will keep buying CoD and CSGO lootboxes.

Vulkan in Godot 4
wait, did Apple fuck them over? Did they remove OpenGL from macOS or something?

Why the fuck would you want a DirectX backend when you have Vulkan? I can understand Metal, but DirectX?

>Vulkan in Godot 4
Not what I asked for. Can you even read, Linuxfag?
>Did they remove OpenGL from macOS or something?
It became "deprecated."
>Carbon has been deprecated for a decade. There are still apps using it today.

In your moms vagina.

OpenGL is deprecated and soon to be removed on Apple. Metal and MoltenVK are the only options now.

he cute

More like Apple is deprecated and soon to be removed from gaming altogether. I feel like they have far too much confidence in their own walled garden approach.

>money that goes for microtransactions would go towards funding development of free and open source software
>paying for free and open source software

Xbox One.

I don't give a fuck about that, to be honest.

hmm super tux and tux racer

>If MS were to say that Windows will cease to work on x86 processor support and all backwards compatibility was dropped, Windows would be instantly dead.
>if you kill a platform it will be dead
you don't say

What's the problem here

Not as long as iPhone users are the biggest paypigs.

Just saying that the momentum it currently has is the only thing keeping Windows alive basically.

You can already get Godot for Xbox One if you pay a company a bunch of money.

Not him. Microsoft is the backwards compatibility company. I don't think they will remove support for x86 software.

What company? In any case, DirectX support harms no one.

Changing well established terminology just in case niggers don't get offended.

They won't, and they won't drop win32 support either. That would be instant suicide. Just saying that there's nothing about Windows itself that keeps users on it, just that old software still works because of the backwards compatibility.

>Linux

What an absolute chad

Lone Wolf Technologies or Pineapple Works. I don't disagree that DirectX support would be a positive.

It's too hard to pirate on linux is the problem.

The first time I come on Zig Forums in years I see a topic that belongs on /g/, and 70% of the threads on /g/ belong here. I guess at least the thread isn't about the JQ so there's that silver lining.

I have to ask, what does Godot use for input on Windows? DirectInput, XInput or something else?

>NOO YOU CAN'T JUST RECOGNIZE THAT HIERARCHIES EXIST BETWEEN PEOPLE

other than some codex releases everything generally works out of the box

My laptop's nvidia gpu is not supported by most distros, including the one I'm currently on. No Linux gaming for me.

Literally a thread about video games.

I mean if you can find a linux release sure, but I never see linux releases anywhere.

Which GPU? Just install the official drivers.

>expecting Godot to add proprietary shit when there is a free alternative that works as well if not better

$ touch bulge.txt; echo owo

Xbox One support is part of UWP
