Persona encompasses two distinct subseries that just so happen to share the same name. Persona 1/2 and Persona from 3 onwards are seperate franchises. Much like how Devil Summoner is used to label both a JRPG series and an action RPG series for some reason despite them having little to do with each other. You will never see early Persona and new Persona cross over.
