ITT: Your most powerful takes

Gameplay is a buzzword.

Videogames suck

I mean it can be. Most things people use to first describe something they like are a slue of buzzwords and should then be followed by and questioned to explanation. Or they could tell people to go fuck themselves if they are being demanded an explanation but if you praise something you should usually be able to give reasons to.

>take

reddit word that needs to be filtered

Go back you fucking retard

Fun is overrated.

All Sonic games are bad, it's just a matter of how bad each one is.

Videogames are too violent, it makes the medium seem like very low brow grindhouse exploitation, the novelty of gore is kinda over, its no longer shocking because so many games have it.

Skyrim has the same combat as Minecraft

I got banned for saying this on Zig Forums in 2011, the week after Skyrim launched

I stand by my statement, people just didn't see it because the game was new

Frogposters are redditors. Fuck off and die

More like ur most dipshit take

Agreed but videogames aren't the only medium to suffer from this.

"Fun" has no concrete meaning and is useless as a descriptor

You can never criticize a game that's new around here because the shills and fanboys are out in full force trying to shove a narrative down everyone's throats. Happens with every big triple A game that comes out.

Hunger in Minecraft is good. Current world gen is also good.

>You can never criticize a game that's new around here
Except Ps4 exclusives

use of that word in that context precedes the internet.

FO4 is the best entry gameplaywise of the modern fallouts and Bethesda as a whole have been good about how they design their openworlds, and while the criticism that their dungeon designs are in effect linear hallways a valid one, they are quite proficient at masking that and giving the player the illusion that they're more expansive than what they really are.

Making female characters is infact extremely heterosexual

I hope that violent video games do make people violent

>b-but muh rollplayen!!

I don't think that this is a "take" per se but I'm really tired of people exaggerating every opinion on every game. Everything's either "GOD TIER" or "IRREDEEMABLE SHIT"
Learn nuance

People who enforce rules for racial and gender diversity in games need to be kicked out of the industry to preserve freedom of creativity.

There's two reasons why Breath of the Wild was so well received. First one is because it has Zelda in the title. The other is because Nintesticles were so desperate for anything after the failure of the Wii U that no matter the quality it would have got inflated scores.

Not incorrect

My powerful take is that every 3D Zelda except Wind Waker is at best on the lower end of mediocre

Videogame stories in the recent years try so much to subvert expectations that end up making no sense just for the sake to surprise the player.
There is nothing wrong with a cliche or "tropy" story as long the characters are funny and/or charismatic.

It should be made illegal for any game to have more than 4 pieces of DLC

Adults are not attractive

I mean, it could be a buzzword, but it also has a proper serious usage too.

My hottake: too many games try to be too long, and are better off as concise, yet enjoyable experiences.
I banged out Maneater in less than 20 hours 100%, and you know what? That was just fine. Didn’t overstay its welcome, didn’t get to the point of being too repetitive, didn’t ever feel grindy. Played it, beat it, shelved it, and I feel like I got my money’s worth out of it.
Warhammer 2’s base campaigns were shit because you had to sit around and wait for the progress meter to slowly build up. The new dlc ones are usually shorter, and feel like a more thorough experience. This applies to the vortex campaigns, not the mortal empire ones which are supposed to be long and drawn out.
