>literally unbeatable
>even exclusivity didn't affect it in any way
how did Gaben do it?
Literally unbeatable

PC niggers talk about how you have freedom on the PC but you don’t, they got sucked into valve and will defend it to the grave if a game appears on PC but with a different launcher
Cry more, Tim
Uh...
They created a service where there was none and was uncontested for nearly a decade
Watch out guys, this console fan means business!
>NOOOOOO GOG DOESN'T EXIST
>PEOPLE DON'T PLAY R6 SEIGE AT ALL (which requires UPlay by the way)
>BRING DOWN THE MONOPOLY!!!!!
He did it first.
By getting too big to fail.
people who say steam is a monopoly and 'sucks people into it' dont play pc
Is good for both the developers and consumers, EGS constantly giving away free game is not good for the developers.
no online fees
tons of games
easy and cheap for devs to release
no SJW bullshit
anti-commie
new features added all time
best way to buy and play games
i wonder how he won
He has mastered the "the only winning move is not to play" strategy.
>origin flopped so bad they finally gave up and are just making it a shitty drm service
?
suck my dick, I played portal on my ps3 and it gave me a free copy to play with a friend on pc.
i'd buy games on epic if i didn't strongly disagree with them paying money for exclusives and fucking over the backers of a few kickstarters. i don't have any particular attachment to steam or any of the tens of stupid launchers i use or have used over the years. the only thing i really care about is VIDEO GAMES
PKEKS are just incapable of abandoning counter strike. That's all they've been playing for years.
Their biggest advantage is that their competition sucks and already had a shitty reputation before their platform launched. Everybody fucking hated EA before origin, and everybody I know that has it installed play whatever game they have, and when they're done they kill origin so it isn't running in the background. The same goes for uplay.
If Epic had launched with a decent platform, with even 2/3 of the services that Steam offers, like game specific forums and built in mod support for games, it wouldn't have been too bad. Instead they launched a glorified web browser for video games and started throwing money at game developers for exclusivity, even making deals with devs that were already advertising on Steam.
TL;DR Gaben is doing it because nobody else can do a decent job to replace it.
Based, piratebros.
Why are you all triggered? I don’t even care about console wars shit I don’t even play games made after 2006
>Game launches on Steam
>Sells more in a week than it sells in a year on Ebin
The only reason people even use EGS is because of free games.
>(which requires UPlay by the way)
Fuck really? I wanted to try it out, but I refuse to install that shit on my computer.
>open epic
>play game for few hours
>close the entire launcher and forget about it until I play again
valve succeeded because it was the first on the market and now anything else you try to use is pointless because every user is already on steam. You CAN get people to switch, but it's difficult and usually comes at the cost of happy customers, like how ubisoft games all require uplay. It's fucking frustrating to no end, but it works for them, and I know more than a few people who stopped using steam and only use uplay now because it's easier to manage it that way.
Origin tried to split off but their return to steam is as much an admission of "we don't care anymore" as any.
Exclusivity DOES work, but usually only for that particular title, and only if it's actually exclusive. If something will end up on steam in a year, it just means they'll fucking wait rather than moving over, which is why I don't understand people bitching about EGS. you KNOW the fucking games will end up on steam. Who cares? Just wait a year for them to beta test it for you and get the bugs wrinkled out.
How hard is it to be better than Steam? They've done so many stupid things, especially after paide mods (even if that was mostly on bethesda). If you can't offer SOMETHING better, then that's your fault.
I'm putting my eggs into the GOG basket.
didnt read lol
Onions is illegal here, plus I don’t even have any current gen consoles. Try again mate
Sorry, bro, but I don't add homos or trannies to my friends list.
It’s not hard at all, just release your game on disc and have the game launch OFF the disk. This argument over different game launchers for digital files is retarded, all of them are shit and shouldn’t exist
Does GOG sell games on physical media without the need for patches or updates? No
Does Epic? No. does Steam? No. Does Sony? No. Does Microsoft? No. Nobody does
The Steam Games Festival was extremely based.
I wish other storefronts accomodated that sort of shit.
It would have been based if the demos weren't time limited.
i've never had any issues with it
Epic has really cut back on exclusives this year for some reason. The only major exclusives they have scored so far this year are Tony Hawk and Total War Troy (and Troy looks like a dumpster fire so I can understand why CA took the Epic payday).
Why can't those fucking GOG poles do the same?
First-mover advantage. All areas of tech are full of it.
How’s it bait?
which isn't a bad lesson, they're making a lot of money off steam right now.
>Does GOG sell games on physical media without the need for patches or updates? No
That's the beauty of GOG. You don't need physical because, without DRM, you can just make your own physical copies. Just get the latest version with the updates and patches, then burn that to a CD. You're taking offense at DRM that prevents you from having any control over your game, and that's understandable.
I just wish they let me transfer over my games, They were all free games I got over the years and alice madness returns I just want to remove origin from my pc
even games on physical media still have patches and updates. I still had to patch my disc copy of KOTOR.
By doing literally nothing.
by being the first and the best
Probably because it isn't working like they want. I think the doubling down on the free games is a smarter move business wise and for their pockets.
Unless it's an exorbitant amount of time between the releases, I'm talking 5+ years, it just isn't ever going to make people switch over. Streamers, maybe but who the fuck cares about streamers, they're not a viable audience for your games distribution platform.
Normal people wanting free slime rancher, and free gta5? Now that's a solid userbase.
So far it seems most exclusives aren't pulling people to use the store that much, a few hits sure but nothing substantial. The free games are doing more to get people on board. If that is the case then Tony Hawk and Troy might be how the companies get to be on the platform as well as steam
Another thing I noticed is companies that went epic exclusive seem to be able to do simultaneous launches on other platforms instead of another one year exclusive.
>provides amazing APIs, cloud and dedicated servers, and a huge international market for developers for free
>gives users want they want in terms of discussion, reviews, and the ability to filter and customize the store to their liking
>doesnt rely on politicizing or censoring
>provides max dl speeds at all times for free
>has a cart
It's pure garbage though and completely unneeded.
Steam acts as DRM itself. I don't understand why you need Uplay if you've already bought something through Steam. A lot of their older games you don't even need Uplay for which further adds to the confusion. I'm sick to heck of how many launchers you need to install because they're completely unnecessary and it's unironically stopped me from buying certain games. No wonder so many people pirate them when you can't even play them without an internet connection.
doubling down on free games just trains their users to never buy anything
basically the only platform egs exclusives disallow simul-launch on is steam. Games have launched on w10 store and consoles of course.
no it trains smart people to never buy anything. It trains retarded consumers that they should only use epic cause they get free shit woooooooooo
So when do we think Ubisoft will come crawling back?
They might try to hold off a bit longer to see how Valhalla does. But EA's success so far is sort making it feel like ubi is missing out on a ton.
Because GOG only has shovelware and boomer shit
Is there a single game ubisoft has released that isn't on steam?
Ubisoft can suck my dick, they've always been the enemy of PC gaming. They're the ones in the xbox 360 era that convinced other publishers and developers to pull out of the PC market because it was full of muh piracy.
Now they're trying to convince everyone Steam is old news because muh 30% cut. Fuck off.
No, smart people know the free games are just a lure so Epic can sell your data. Retarded consumers just see it as the Free Games Store.
Check all of last year until now.
Steam sells your data too, just in case you didn't know. Or do you think they don't do anything with your browsing/purchase habits? Why do you think all this steam labs shit exists?
>Humble
>Fanatical
>GOG
>Origin
huh, well shit I genuinely didn't notice, kek guess I don't really care about ubi games.
Also there are a lot more simultaneous launches on EGS and Steam nowadays. Just today the new Spongebob game launched on Steam, EGS and GOG.
Probably whenever Valve gets their subscription service up and running. They're developing it specifically for EA and Ubisoft also has a subscription service.
Ubi hasn't released a game on Steam since Anno 1800 in April 2019 (and that game got pulled).
you have to fucking opt in to Steam collecting your data
It's easy to beat.
Come up with a storefront that has all the basic features Steam has and then some. Really, it's the same as with WoW back in the day. Everyone wanted to be the next WoW but every copy was just a worse version with a new gimmick.
