This, we all love the characters and story but honestly when you deeply analyze it, they were bland-one dimensional characters without much development or connection to the story at all, and largely existed solely for waifu sim shit. They started the series sterotypes that have been rehashed for a decade and killed the franchise

it's not the same as it used to be, when they killed them the first time most of the good people uninstalled and never came back, when GameRanger died I just gave up too. Servers are all unstable as fuck or have trash ping now every time I try to play
There was a clan that I can't remember the name of that ran a bunch of servers before GameRanger was a thing, that was the golden years of the game. I have like 700 hours in the game so I'm definitely not living under a rock

I even like Blood a lot, but man, it's very overrated as the pinnacle of old FPS games, but it just lacks the quality and polish of Duke, the lack of quality levels past the first episode alone holds it back from being on Duke's level.

Its been a very long time but overall I think the units were better in BFII. The first games maps were fucking amazing though, BFII's are rather mediocre.
