Literally "trying too hard", the game. Felt more like a Lifetime movie, the attempts at appealing to the player's emotions were so transparent and thin I'm amazed anyone felt anything. The attempts to juxtapose the sappy sentimental shit with "wacky" humor failed on every front, too. I'm honestly blown away people like this game, it was such a colossal step down from the first two.
The music and spritework is excellent, sure, but that's about it. Felt more like a fan game than a real Mother entry.
