I'd agree with you if it didn't feel like he was purposefully being contrarian about his opinion.
He seemed to take great joy in being able to disagree with everyone and especially the cherrypicked bits of literally who's.
It really felt like he was trying incredibly hard to invent a narrative for the game that just wasn't there and even if it was, that won't excuse the piss poor execution and "out-of-touch"-ness of the whole thing
