Its shit now and i dont honestly think it'll be mainstream for the next 5 years at least. Its a 500 dollar tech demo with not enough games and just like the wii, relies exclusively on a gimmick that loses wow factor relatively quickly. It also gets stupid fucking hot in that thing when youre moving around and sweating, and im very curious to see long term results on peoples vision / necks after using this for an extended period
I can't even name three big vr games so I think that's a pretty good indicator

HLA is okay for the first 10 minutes before the novelty wears off. After that it's just as boring as the rest of the HL series. The same gameplay loop for almost 20 years.
If only they didn't dumb down the combine AI so they actually fight you instead of standing behind a pole for 20 seconds so the brain-dead playtesters can actually hit something.

I watched a few hours of gameplay and it looked bland as fuck. I really can't fathom why people think it's neccessary to vehemently defend what's blatantly a tech demo.
You walk around, shoot for a bit, then the guy on the other end says some funny quip and that's it. That's the whole game, basically. Imagine if an actual good game studio did something with VR.

You literally fucking walk around, peek around the corner shoot, and then if you're lucky, get in a firefight that lasts longer than 20 seconds due to all the health on the enemies being nerfed to shit because "virtual reality" is inherently wonky for games.
If someone like insomniac or Suda51 did some shit being related to vee arr, that would actually pique my interest. Not some shitty studio that does nothing but make tech demos and CS:GO

And? Have you seen the shit that AAA studios put out? Keep them. There's a bunch of smaller developers working on projects that they seem actually passionate about, something you very rarely see in bigger releases these days.
The entire argument about VR is one side that don't have a headset going "it's a meme!! do you regret buying it yet?!" and another side actually playing vidya and discussing games with each other.

The new zombie mode has been the most fun I've had in one of those kinds of defense modes in forever. Just a coincidence it happened to be in a VR game to boot.
