Wow, you've been wasting your time for 13 years? What a fucking loser.
2009 not '07
Why. 2007 was the start of the 7th gen, where we pew pew action shooting games, piss filter and 'movie' games. There were some gems to behold, I admit. But 07 was the beginning of shit.
The internet truly died after zoomers born after 2000 or 2003 were allowed to rummage the webs unsupervised. Birth of vine, ticktock or whatever stupid trendy shit that doesn't make sense to me killed the internet. I wish I could go back, I really do. I miss making shitty loops on YTMND when it was popular.
>doesn't make sense
It makes sense, it's just toxic as fuck.
HL2 multiplayer mods started coming out that year and were pretty amazing. I spent a lot of time with them. Unfortunately most have been driven into the ground by devs who don't know when to stop changing the game. Some decent indie games came out after that too. But I haven't really found much within the last few years that I really like. Hope VR keeps improving to bring another high point for gaming.
No you idiot
Correct.
And pic related is the exact moment it happened.
>Fox does its first report on Zig Forums and "Anonymous", causing a mass influx of edgy 12 year olds.
I miss that being what a low point for this site looks like. I was one of those 12 year olds
Im born after 2000 and grew up on newgrounds stuff. I’ve never been into vine or tiktok, those are relatively new
The iPhone literally brought women and niggers to the internet.
We have to go back...
Yeah bro everything died at the same time you stopped being a kid and became a cynical jaded virgin teenager
What convenient timing!
Games I played that released in 2007:
>Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2
>Halo 3
>World in Conflict
>Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts Expansion
>Portal
>Crysis
>Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
>Assassins Creed
>Nuff said

I miss being an 8 year and playing resident evil 8. Got scared, when I saw dr Salvador decapitating Leons head though.
Why is BF4 on that list? BF4 was the last, proper, Battlefield game. Still popular today with full servers.
2006 to 2008 was definitely a turning point. The iPhone and the Wii started the idea of turning everybody into gamers, and smartphone games started the idea of turning every game into a casino.

Even in 2011, only 5% of internet traffic was mobile and 33% of Americans owned smartphones.

2007 was the year everything went to shit. Crunk was the seed of destruction, and its effects arrived in 2007.
As I said, it was the beginning of the end. Now the iPhone is the phone everybody owns, Twitter and faceberg are the big social media sites, people take inspiration from faggy tv shows.
Yeah I remember around that time being so bored with AAA games and confused at why they were all still getting 9.9/10 scores from reviewers. Guess that's why I just played so much of the HL2 multiplayer mods that started coming out then and focused on older single player games instead.
There isn't a year that gaming died but it's definitely gone through many shifts that cause high and low points in different areas. AAA games actually seemed great up until the early-mid 2000s, then mods and indie games grew in popularity but peaked and started going downhill after that too. I'm thinking the next big thing will either be an indie MMO or a VR MMO.
2004 was great because everyone was doing everything they can to get away from the shittyness of
post 9/11
Katrina
war on terror
and etc.
this helped make innovations because the audiences were still niche and the status quo hadnt changed. people were reluctant to embrace that nerd shit
The 2008 recession caused even further escapism and it affected normies making them flock to social media and the internet. This is where things got really bad, they then try to adopt a foreign nich and culture as their own to escape and pretend they are not part of the problem
Now with 2020 the process has repeated itself, with EVERYONE corporations and propagandists themselves chasing people to their means of escape to let them know that this world is shit because fuck you I want you to be miserable and know your place goy
Spore being a disappointment was what killed the wonder of gaming for me.
wow books have been using reddit spacing for thousands of years!! And reddit punctuation too!!! Reddit reddit reddit i cant stop thinking about it!
2008 was also the year of “Is Resident Evil 5 racist?” Newsweek had this guy N’Gai Croal writing about video games for them. He appeared on a number of 1UP podcasts. When Resident Evil 5 was announced he did an interview with MTV where he said it looked like nobody black had worked on the game and that its imagery had a history. I remember this because I was taken aback by it. And I’m pretty sure there was a NeoGAF thread in which everybody was like “Racist? What? Is this guy crazy?” Ironic in light how woke the forum would get. That was a turning point in games journalism, I believe.
Lots of good games in 87, 97, 07, and 2017. Sorry sweaty, but years that end in 7 are good for vidya. 2007 was a shit year for everything else though.
Jews aren't the reason behind this. Some of the most soulful culture was created by Jews like Steven Spielberg and Felix Mendelssohn.
All reddit fags
Dilate.
peak gaming
Far Cry 2 and 3
New Vegas
red dead
skyrim
bioshock infinite
LA noir
everything kinda deteriorated this last gen tho.
>Some of the most soulful culture was created by Jews like Steven Spielberg and Felix Mendelssohn.
Ah yes, Ready Player One is the epitome of culture
Not talking about Spielberg's recent movies. He sold out in the mid-2000s. I'm referring to Jaws, Raiders, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, etc.
This but unironically
i can't
because its actually terrible
and it made me depressed and the only thing that keeps me going is the few indie games every year or two
Oh shit! I remember that. It's one the reasons why sheva was shoe horned in as a co op partner.

No Storm 4
No Friday the 13th the game
No Darks Souls 3
No Sekiro
skyrim is the best game ever
you can go anywhere you want
there’s infinite quests, completely unscripted AI. amazimg game
2007 was the peak and decline of gaming. Long do I miss those days where I played games outside of a controlled matchmaking environment full of mods and people doing whatever they want. That's nonexistent now. I search for that feeling everyday. It's gone.
MIYA HEE
Spielberg raped a child.
You can also add in CoD 4: Modern Warfare drawing in HEAPS of turbocasuals to the hobby and shitting up FPS games forever. At least TF2 came out at the same time.
at least we experienced it, user. and it was all basically for free. I legitimately feel for kids these days who are pressured to spend money left and right to have fun.
>BF4 was the last, proper, Battlefield game
But that's not 2142.
What are you talking about? Tons of games still have modded servers. FiveM is very popular. Old ones like tf2 and gmod are still very active
