I really hope something like the museum mode in newer AC games gets released, I really want to experience the setting and details they put in but don't want to play a misery festival

So I'm gold? Got to filter out the gold so the rest of muddy water moves on.
Glad to know I get recognized for having standards for not liking a piece of shit.

Honestly I'm contemplating filtering these threads.

Was anyone else amazed at how beautiful her eyes were during cutscenes, especially when they were in the sunlight? Man.

and you still wonder why people groan at inclusion

Dude is that weed holy based

Narrative ≠ cinematics

Retard tranny

This game sucks.

There's nothing wrong with cinematics. TLOU Part II actually does a way better job with them than the first game did. In it, cutscenes were all prerendered and there was a jarring black screen between gameplay and cutscenes, but in Part II, the transitions between cutscenes and gameplay are all seamless.

TLOU is the exact opposite of a pleb-filter though - all of its gameplay conventions are the safest possible decisions to make at any given point. Sure you can cite the wacky twists in the plot, but a real filter is one that challenges audiences' preconceptions through GAMEPLAY, not story beats. Something like a Demon's Souls, or a NieR, where a bunch of normies and journos write it off as bad or too weird to be good because it strays too far from the median.

TLOU2 is basically a fake pleb-filter, because the gameplay is just as refined and pedestrian as the last entry. A REAL pleb-filter move, if they wanted to make you actually feel sick of the violence and therefore put their money where their mouth is, would be to take away the HUD and aiming reticles and basically make you survive. That's one of a thousand potential crazy things they could've done but didn't because TLOU2 is meant to be a safe product that's larping as dangerous.

It's the actual, OG definition of "edgy", in that regard.

You're trying to look at it through too close of a Zig Forums lens. Yes, TLOU isn't a "game" in the vein that Zig Forums likes. It's more like a weird hybrid between a game and a movie, and whatever you want to label it as, the story is what makes it a pleb filter.

I was amazed by almost everything but the dogshit story. Those flashbacks with Joel really showed what the game COULD'VE been, but no, they just had to fuck it up with this generic 'revenge bad' story that completely contradicts itself. Made it even worse with the tranny and dyke shit forced into the game.

Yes, you've been, OP, take a look at this thread

>muh heckin joelerino!
>character who did terrible thing can't die because I LIKE him!
>story contradicts itself!!!
>trannies!!!!!

Joel did nothing wrong, though. Dumb wojakfag.

This game is actually a patrician filter, just like the first one.

That OP mischaracterizes TLOU 2's story and Death Stranding's gameplay. This:
>Last of Us 2 is mostly a movie and a game mashed together, it gains nothing from being a game, aside from controlling Abby to further the plot
Is also just the classic, mindless Zig Forums seethe at narrative games. TLOU gains a lot from being a game.

>be OP
>look around
>universal disdain for TLOU2's shit writing
>heh... Now's my chance
So it begins.

I really did, hearing about the story turned me off from playing this

>TLOU gains a lot from being a game

For example...?

>no you!

Joel killed hundreds of well-intentioned people and killed doctors who were trying to save humanity.

Did you also make sure to give it a 1/10 on metacritic even though you haven't played it? I don't think it counts if you haven't.

It invests you in the narrative. Putting you in the shoes of the protagonist connects you to the story in a way movies can't.

>would be to take away the HUD and aiming reticles and basically make you survive.
That's a cool idea. I would have liked that. Killzone 2's hardest difficulty setting removed all UI by default and it made everything way more intense.

>another shitty movie get on the thread

>Joel killed hundreds of well-intentioned people and killed doctors who were trying to save humanity
Why does everybody forget the Fireflies were cunts. Like seriously, stop peddling this bullshit.

What in-game content makes them seem like they were cunts? I keep seeing Zig Forums trotting out this line that they couldn't have created a vaccine, that there were other immune people, etc, but I've never seen anything from in-game suggesting that.
In Part II, Joel takes it as a given that they really could have created a vaccine, and in the context of Joel's character arc, the ending of the first game only really works if you assume that they could have created a vaccine.

Never said it wasn't justified for a firefly to kill him for what he did, just it's so fucking bad how they did it. They made it about it as forgettable as every other character in the game. I'[m not going to sit here and argue with you about this for an hour, so here's this video to do it for me.

What was wrong with how they did it? Seriously, I don't get it. His death scene provokes the strongest performance in Ashley Johnson's career and it motivates Ellie for the rest of the game.
>watch my youtube video because I'm too braindead to come up with my own points
"No!"

>Wanting more "cinematic" games in an interactive medium
Fucking christ just go watch a movie

>Make a generic post apocalyptic zombie drama story by ripping off movies and television series

>Staple it onto some bare bones shooting and stealth mechanics

The Last of Us is built from the ground up to be safe and to appeal to normalfags.

It's a variation of the same game Naughty Dog has been making for 15 years now, only with a really bad really badly paced pretentious muddled story about what should be a really simple theme.
I really hate pseuds that praise mediocrity like this

What if I like cinematic games, though?

The first game, sure. I don't know how you can argue that Part II is, though, when everyone, Zig Forums, Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, whoever else, hates it.
