has the most replayability and the most fun world to explore out of the 3 games. it does some things worse and some things better than the other games, but it's the one i feel more compelled to go back to time after time

I liked all Souls games. They all having something unique about them. 2 for sure has some questionable decisions and is not my favorite souls game, but in the end I did finish it 3 times and I can't say that about most modern games that I have played.

It feels different and refreshing. The world feels like the disaster happened not so long ago compared to DS1's "IT HAPPENED AGES AGO".

Also the human-centric theme of DS2 is probably my favorite - it's not Gods or Dragons, it's humans struggling with their own mortality.

In the threads I've seen discussing DS2 there was a split in preferences between both versions. Not an even split, admittedly, but about a third or so of posts defended vanilla.

SoTFS has some extra retardation in the placement of the enemies, and they will also aggro you from an absurd range. The levels are so flat and linear though, it's not even a very big difference through most of the game. I would personally say Vanilla is less bad but if you value multiplayer I would imagine SotFS has a more active community.

It's same game,sotfs is just like mod remix of items and enemies and dlc keys are connected to the world and not just given to you right away

the amount of people in this place who take contrarian opinions just for the sake of it, outside of Zig Forums i doubt you'll find many people saying vanilla is the preferred version. sotfs is basically just a patch to fix a bunch of the issues the game had at launch, it did also change a bunch of other things admittedly sometimes for the worst, but overall it's the better version and also the version other people are going to be playing
