What are Zig Forums's honest thoughts on this game? No console wars fags plz, and only post your opinion if you actually played it, heres mine:
The gameplay isnt good enough to justify how long it is, and the story and writing isnt good enough to keep you invested. Also I felt that it lacked likeable characters (aside from Joel but he's barely in it), and the characters didnt feel like they had any chemistry. Compare it to uncharted when Nate and Sully banter and the lack of chemistry is very noticable imo
For me its a 6/10, it isnt as bad as Zig Forums claims but the writing is a massive step down from what naughty dog usually writes, so I'm not quite sure what happened there. Possibly the director being given too much freedom was the issue, idk
Meh I think Jesse is a very likeable character, he just doesn’t get enough screentime. Ellie is likeable when she’s on her and breaking bad to so to speak. Ellie-Dina relationship is one of the weakest parts of the story, and that’s especially a problem because of how much time they spend on it.
Only just starting the Abby half of the game but so far I think the shift works. Abby and Owen are compelling enough, the rest of her friends are annoying/onions, and I hope I don’t have to spend a lot of time with Mel.
I honestly think the gameplay is great, they made a lot of smart design decisions with the combat. Stealth is very boring however. The skill trees are uninteresting and for the most part I think they actively make the game less fun. The more threatened I feel in combat/stealth the more fun I have.
I'm genuinely surprised they cast jewess as lesbien love ineterest instead of a nigress. Truly kike subversion is becoming unpredictable. Thinking about it, are there even niggers in this game?
how much of it is cut scenes and walking and talking to move the plot along?
Hunter Hernandez
Graphics, amazing. It does feel a bit over-produced though, I will explain. When 90% of the environments feel like they can be some artistic image or a background or some professional photography shot, it sort of loses it's effect after a while. I think they should have saved the more beatiful shots and locations for when they wanted to convey something to you. But I would still rate the graphics 10/10.
The gameplay loop is servicable...the combat encounters can be fun if you go out of your way to make it fun, you can also just sneak around with terribly slow sneak kill animation. The main issue with the gameplay is how much it doesn't fit the story...It really wants to tell you that killing it bad and it wants to tell you killing those cutscene NPCs has an effect on Ellie...but blowing up hundreds of people, group after group is actually satisfying LOL.
The looting is a problem, it gets old incredibly fast. They should have made the game with far less looting. It felt like that's what i did for most of the game
The writing is fucking terrible, the only good writing is the banter between characters as they walk around, but the overal structure, the pacing it's awful. It tells very simplistic messages done a million times that should be relatable to anyone, yet somehow it's still so overwrought it manages to miss the landing on such a simplistic message. The character motivations don't make a lot of sense a lot of the time, a lot of moments don't feel earned, a lot of contrived moments in the game . As a vidya story I would rate it 4/10, because it's unskipable and it wastes a lot of your fucking time so you can't enjoy the game
Overall it's a 7.5/10
Ian Myers
Pretty good gameplay and decent enough changes from the first game. I thought the game was pretty solid but the switch to playing as Abby took me too long to get warmed up to. You play as her for far too long. It didn’t need to mirror Ellie’s part of the game as they made it. I enjoyed playing as Ellie considerably more. I wouldn’t play the third game if Abby and Lev were the main characters
Asher Gutierrez
i overall agree though I thought the gameplay was good enough to carry the game the full 25 hours (but I'm a sucker for survival horror and stealth games and not many games fit that description). the writing was meh. the fact that they had not one but two pregnant women surprises just felt cheap, like they didn't know how to write compelling characters without some lame "omg she's pregnant!?!?!?" twist. that and I didn't fully feel like ellie would have gone after abby a second time after she let her live twice and she had the whole family thing going on. plus the pacing was weird as fuck. like having a flashback within a flashback is pretty fucking bad
Jonathan Jackson
best game I've played since 2013
Angel Garcia
yeah there are a bunch of parts where you're just walking through a fucking cut scene which is another one of my complaints. just make it a normal cut scene. that way i can at least like drink a beer or something while it's happening. I know people shit on death stranding for its expositional dumps but i honestly prefer that method a lot better
Alexander Price
It isnt a full blown movie game like Zig Forums claims it is, most of it is gameplay and the cutscenes are fine. They're a good length, they dont drag on too long like mgs4 but theyre just long enough to do what they need to do.
Like I said its mostly gameplay, but imo the gameplay isnt that good. Its fun for the first few hours of the game but it quickly becomes jaded and gets repetitive. And theres a lot of stealth sections which dont work very well because the AI is retarded, its literally skyrim tier. You can be crouching right in plain site of guards and they dont see you, and your buddies are completely invisible to them - Dina can literally be standing right in front of them and they wont see her. If they were gonna put this much focus on stealth they shouldve made better AI for it, Sony works closely with the metal gear niggas so maybe they could've gotten those guys to help with the AI or something
yes, and she gets offed quite nastily. ellie literally comes back covered in her blood and dina is absolutely silent about it

>But I would still rate the graphics 10/10. For me the graphics are a 9/10. I'm not sure what actually happened, but the graphics are pretty inconsistent - 99% of the game looks amazing and is 10/10 graphics but there are a few bad textures in there which look like shit, literally ps2 tier. Like they literally dont even look like they belong in the game. The graphics are great for the most part, but some of the textures look terrible
Jace Young
you can usually scavenge and manage your inventory during those parts though
Samuel Carter
someone post the webm where abby ganks the jew
Ryder Ramirez
>AI is retarded it's some of the best AI I've seen in a stealth-action tps game. did you play on normal?
Carson Williams
in my opinion there's more than enough scavenging/inventory management when you're out in the field to make that unnecessary but to each their own
Joseph Williams
I actually agree with him more than with you , I did think "the ai is retarded" more than "the ai is really smart", but there were moments of both type throughout
Blake Lopez
It is "fine". It's environment and smaller technical details are outstanding, but gameplay have hardly evolved since the first game. They took a gamble with the characters which to me failed. When I get to the Abby sequence I was already so disinterested by the game's story it didn't matter. I feel sorry for the engineers working on this game only for it to get a bad reputation because of somewhat incompetent writing.
Gabriel Cox
lol oh yeah. the one black person in this game.
Landon Brown
Don't forget about buff Arnold. Isaac.
Henry Rogers
Theory: Abby is an actual psychopath. She ticks all the boxes of the triarchic psychopathy model
>Boldness Insubordinate to all authority figures she encounters, bullies and cows others into following her schemes, has no forethought and rushes into everything head on >Disinhibition Becomes sexual at inappropriate times, clearly eats an incredible amount and would need to frequently take drugs to achieve her size >Meanness Doesn’t give a shit when any of her friends die, flaunts her hookup with Owen to Mel, shows incredible cruelty when killing Joel and assaulting Dina, arguably only cares about Lev for selfish reasons
Man they really wanted to achieve that the player feels "guilty" for playing Joel in the first game and for what he [the player] has done.
I literally am at the Abby part right now and my motivation to play is currently gone. Am I supposed the like Abby? After what she's done? I know the story is told from multiple perspectives but man, Abby and her friends can rot big time.
Nathaniel Thomas
There is no fucking way a game today would be a 0/10. ET on Atari is a 0/10, and I ca't think of another 0/10. G*mers are so fucking stupid, I swear to christ.
that picture is the perfect representation of what TLOU2 is. a goy in the hands of the eternal yid, subverting the fuck out of him
Charles Wood
>Doesn’t give a shit when any of her friends die >only cares about Lev for selfish reasons whose playthrough did you watch?
David Mitchell
Abby is basically the same as Joel gameplay-wise you'll even get a flamethrower down the road
Wyatt Wood
While showing the other side's story isn't really new or creative, I thought they ultimately did an ok job of making me feel for abby. I don't know how far you are so I'm not going to spoil anything but there were a couple spots where it was solid, i definitely grew to like the character more as her story progressed, i did hate her at the start as well. my problem with the whole thing is that the gameplay is so contradictory to the story. you're supposed to feel bad for this one NPC's daughter from the first game while that same person kills scores of people in the second game, each NPC she kills we can assume to have friends, or brothers/sisters, parents. kind of makes the game's themes fall flat. I mean at least have a non-lethal takedown ability...
Justin Foster
>Manny gets his head blown off right next to her >she reacts like she just stubbed her toe
Every chapter of the game is basically "are you SJWs satisfied?" It's patronising. I can practically see the fucking strings in every scene. Every line, every scene is made to stroke off SJWs in some way. The invisible hand is all too visible. Druckmann got sloppy and let his personal politics infect the plot WAY too much.
Everyone you fight in the game shoots you on sight why should Ellie/Abby use non-lethal takedowns when they aren't?
Grayson Jackson
well you don't have much time to grieve when a sniper's on your ass do you?
Hunter Miller
What do you want her to do break down crying while Tommy is still shooting at her?
Leo Powell
The narrative is pretty insulting, the gameplay is more mediocre TPS and walking, and there's no multiplayer to give it legs past a first playthrough.
It way oversimplifies the conflict of the first game in order to set up a series of contrivances in this one. Abby and crew killing Joel more or less out of nowhere is unearned and evokes the wrong emotion from the viewer. Even small changes to slowly ramp up the tension would've fixed the issue, but with the way the scene goes it's deflating and breaks the person out of their immersion. It's also honestly kind of funny that they spare Ellie as she shrieks I'LL KILL YOU I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU and then they're shocked when she shows up and starts killing them.
The entirety of Abby's gameplay section is cheap and manipulative and while I'm sure some people will eat up that slop like it's 5-star cuisine I felt insulted that the game was so blatantly trying to force me to like and feel for a character it had just used as a 1-dimensional prop to begin the conflict.
The plot itself, like I said, is ultra-contrived. It revolves around Ellie going on an insane single-minded revenge quest that is so ridiculous that it was literally a dropped plot from the first game that was considered unbelievable. Specifically, they thought it would be unbelievable that anyone would risk long-term travel for nearly any reason, with Joel accepting in the first game only because of the massive paycheck and his personal feelings re:Ellie as a surrogate daughter
Most of the violence in the cutscenes is particularly grotesque and disturbing, and not in an a way where it really serves to reinforce any messages. You can't show what amounts to a digital torture/snuff section and claim you put it in to show the horrors of violence when a good 40% of your game is attaching dynamite to arrows to blow up enemies in a gorgeous blood shower. That's not art, that's masturbation. (1/2)
So do the enemies in Metal Gear, Deus Ex, and Dishonored but they all had non-lethal options and some actual consequences or at least acknowledgement depending on how you approached things.
Nolan Harris
The ending is also pretty strange. Ellie sees a vision of Joel and decides to spare Abby, but nothing about Joel or the things he taught Ellie leads logically to that conclusion. Joel would've told Ellie to murder Abby in case Abby ever changed her mind. It would've made way way more sense for Joel to see a vision of Ellie and decide to spare Abby because Ellie was Joel's conscience.
TLoU2 runs into the same problem that TLoU one was trying (and ultimately failed) to solve: games aren't movies. The difference here is that 2 didn't even try to solve the problem, it didn't care. (2/2)
Brody Campbell
After beating it I loved it. Its a tough sequel, to follow up a conclusive game. That being said, I want a threequel to this one.
Benjamin Barnes
the vast majority of encounters start with you in stealth. there's absolutely no reason to kill someone if nobody has detected you. I just think it would have been a simple mechanic to include (which plenty of stealth games have) and it would've made more sense for the themes
Dominic Allen
Ellie was always softer than Joel he would've killed Henry in part 1 if Ellie didn't stop him
Caleb Gray
I take it as Ellie constantly has PTSD seeing Joels dead face, after nearly killing Abby she finally shes Joels face again. The deed is done and she can see him again.
Jose Walker
i mean a small scene of her crying after shoving tommy into the water would've been a nice touch
Dylan Jenkins
tell me why I should care what a pretentious faggot who posts gifs from kurosawas movies thinks.
Noah Ross
What
Gavin Diaz
>Ellie was always softer than Joel Yeah, that's why Ellie seeing Joel and that prompting her to spare Abby makes no sense. No offense but that's retarded No, fuck off retard
Asher Gonzalez
Turns out you literally didnt get it.
Logan Murphy
>Stealth is very boring however
I find myself constantly being reckless on purpose after doing a couple of areas 100% stealth since I found that I would have way more fun shooting stuff and moving around rather than watching the same slit-throat animation during the entire game. I wish there was more instances of encounters against scars/zombies and WLF at the same time since I felt those one justified stealth on a more mechanical level than the rest of encounters.
Talking about Ellie's part too, just started Abby. Does she ever get a bow? I feel I will miss that fucker.
Jeremiah Scott
So explain it to me.
Dominic Garcia
>It would've made way way more sense for Joel to see a vision of Ellie and decide to spare Abby because Ellie was Joel's conscience. I'm convinced Ellie dying and Joel going full murderhobo was the original sequel concept but they got swapped at some point early on.
Easton Bennett
you get a crossbow eventually
Brayden Miller
There's an interview where the co-writer talks about how she convinced Druckmann to swap the "fates" of two major characters. It would make a lot of sense if they swapped Joel and Ellie's roles in the story.
Wyatt Jenkins
You just reply to everyones explanations as retarded, perhaps you're retarded as well.
