Atari and Chuck E Cheese were founded by Nolan Bushnell IIRC.

This was a relic only 80s/90s kids would understand and really only for the unfortunate who did not have a proper arcade in the area. 90% of Zig Forums wouldn't understand Chuck E Cheese/Showbiz Pizza and was really only around for nostalgia purposes. I can't believe it took this long.

As a toddler I liked that mouse almost as much as Sonic at the time. Had stuffed animals and everything.

Not the first time the brand has entered bankruptcy, last time was in the early 80’s around the time of the video game crash (when they were pizza time theatre). Showbiz Pizza scooped them up in a merger and saved them.

I don't think I ever went to one. I only remember them sponsoring a bunch of PBS shows I watched as a kid.

That's too bad, I honestly didn't go to Chuck-e-Cheese all that much as a kid because for me there was a place nearby that was essentially a giant Chuck-e-Cheese.
But that place closed down over a decade ago.

You can still go to CiCi’s and play their arcade games. Bring your own fursuit if you wanna really recreate the Chuck E. Cheese experience.

Chuck E Cheese was a neutered version of the places it replaced from the beginning and only got more sterile and unexciting as time went on. I'll reserve my 90s nostalgia for the Circus Pizza it replaced. Chuck E Cheese is the one responsible for killing places like that. One it rolled in I only went a few times before finding a much better place with laser tag and bumper cars.
