It died like 5 years ago when they started to regulate game prices and started to remove a lot of the shitty made-in-an-afternoon Unity asset flip garbage that you could farm for cards.
I was making mad bank those days.

All emoticons and steam backgrounds are purchasable now as long as you own the game and they cost like 100 points (nothing), meaning is useless to buy cards and craft badges for rare emoticon/backgrounds to sell them in the market, expect all market prices to drop in the next hours.
