Still better than every other game released this year
Still better than FF7R LOL
>not using fast travel
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an objectively better game by nearly ever measure.
This. To stay on topic, 2 has the decency to reward you for exploring, on top of having a much more detailed world.
>go through twenty skill checks I could only get through 20 hours after exploring the area because of RNG gacha
>oh it's a chest with common core and some gold
great reward system bro
this
Definitely one of the aspects I preferred about 2.
You still can find unique Monsters with great loot and skillbooks and get xp for finding hotspots..also sometimes a quest or a hidden doof for later big quest...what else do you want ?
Chests that require fields skills are few and far between, so you’re just full of shit.
>few and far between
>appear in every city and exploitable area at least once if not more
the absolute state of 2 shills
Compared to the amount of regular chests, yes, they are few and far between.
literally irrelevant
the reward systems in 2 are all over the place, much like every aspect of 2 from the story to the merc mission system to the gacha
it's a game of high highs and low lows
1 is a much more stable and succinct experience and that's why it will always be held as a classic while 2 won't
>Exploration is only good if I get an endorphin rush from shinies
Open world on a wii. You can only do so much.
Also: be prepared to be disappointed by the ending.
>Cannot use one of the five characters (and one of two tanks) unless you grind a mindnumbing minigame for hours upon hours upon hours
It's true. It's very relaxing, too. It doesn't actually take very long to get to places, and the view is very nice.
I much prefer it to FFXV.
>NG+ XD
Look I'm a 2 shill!
>not leveling skills for common blades
You only have yourself to blame.
Define all over the place. Because yes, I’d rather be rewarded for exploring everywhere. 2 has a huge amount of chests, generous collectible spots that make sense with their environment and field skills that add more interactivity to the world than just walking from point A to B. It even has more «platforming» and verticality. Meanwhile 1 has shitty random collection spots, quickly irrelevant ether mining spots and... that’s pretty much it. I guess it does have about 5 chests in total.
I can’t even count the amount of time I’d take a detour through a pathway in 1 to just find an empty roadblock and walk back.
what
not subversive enough for you
Most of the skills required are very rare to get on common blades, especially the low level ones you only have access to early to mid game
B-but Enel said it was better! He’s a speed runner so obviously he knows what objectively makes a game good!
Also, are linear corridors really worse than walking for hours in empty fields? Doing errands in Alcamoth was by far the most painful vidya experience I have suffered.
What about that red orb in the Great Makna Falls you have to swim for an eternity to reach? Or all those paths in the Eryth Sea that you have to swim for? Or literally every single sidequest, period?
I've much preferred 2 so far, especially the sound track
I leveled up both story and common blades throughout the story and I practically never met anyone I couldn’t interact with, except for the ones that are related to later side quests or chests that awarded late game rewards.
I was talking about both critic and user reception.
When I played it on the Wii there were always enemies roaming the fields, items to pick up, hidden areas to find, and quests to go on throughout the zones. Did they remove all of these?
>actually liking field skills
leveling those up and swapping the equipped blades to use them was a fucking pain in the ass. The interactivity they added was neat but holy shit I hope they simplify them if they're in 3.

I'm only on Chapter 4 in XC2 so I may be missing something, but so far I found that filling up the map and gaining XP from discovering new locations in XC1 was more rewarding than what the exploration in XC2 has to offer.
>Voice literally says "thank you"
>Sub says "I could get used to this!"
1) Xenoblade does not have an equivalent of FFVI fags down voting anything FFVII related. I don't think Xenogears fans have a similar chip on their shoulder. If anything Xenogears fags also hate Final Fantasy for taking its budget.
2) Zig Forums only brings critic reviews when it's convenient to them
You act like at least 30% of chests in the game require a field skill. That isn't the case. Most of the areas in the game have maybe 5 chests that require a field skill to get to or open.
Yes, some of them are completely unsubstantial rewards by the time you are able to get to them. (chest on top of the tower in Mor ardain) But some of them can be really good and don't have massive requirements. The one in Torigoth that has the Wood Chip, can be gotten as soon as you have Poppi and gotten her to Superstrength level 2 and Nopon Wisdom 2, which can be done before you even fight against Morag. The gold chest behind the throne in Uraya can be gotten with Lockpicking 4 and contains 2 legendary cores and some good chips.
>irrelevant
No, now you are trying to shift the goalpost. As stated, you believe that the rewards don't match the effort needed to get thing. That is the problem and very often, the rewards ARE good and CAN be gotten far before you would normally be able to get them if you have the time and patience. Let's look at 1's rewards, since it's fresh in everyone's minds right now.
>Most quests are content to give you gems that are 10 levels behind or completely worthless, such as Bleed Defense, long before you'll be getting into areas with enemies that CAN put a bleed on you
>Most enemies will never drop anything of worth, weapons are constantly behind the curve
>Sometimes Collectopedia area completion rewards you with a No slot piece of armor that can drop in the next area with slots
>90% of trades are worthless and there is little point to raising affinity outside of unlocking skill branch quests
>The only real reason to explore is trying to find unique monsters, most of the time areas that look like they should have something are completely devoid, instead just being fall off points or having huge walls.
Exactly this
Having to equip the blades to a party member to have the skill checks succeed is one of the biggest chores I've experienced in a game
It becomes especially tedious when the game throws skill check after skill check at you to get to certain chests/areas meaning you have to open and close the menu multiple times to equip blades
Even on NG+ it's still a fucking chore of boring mindless repetitive menu navigation
Ignore the meme subs.
Oceans are completely empty and there are two large oceans you have to swim in.
>Japanese: thank you
>English: i'm a yorkshire lad and i work 'ard to get my fill!
2's amazing dub/translation everybody
The most jarring moments like this for me were
>Rex in Chapter 7
English: I fight... for my friends!
Japanese: Isn't that obvious?! (In response to "you don't fight for just yourself")
>Mythra at the end of Torna
English: I just wanted... to save...
Japanese: Someone... save me...
>Classic
But its not. Only Xenogears has that right.
>>Most quests are content to give you gems that are 10 levels behind or completely worthless, such as Bleed Defense, long before you'll be getting into areas with enemies that CAN put a bleed on you

All of these are blatant lies
I don't really like big open maps usually but they do a good job of selling the world and atmosphere which is really xenoblade's strongest point for me
