Why not just back it up to some portable HDDs? You can get a 3TB portable HDD for under $100. Assuming those are 8.5GB dual-layered discs (which they probably aren't) he's only got 187GB of footage.

If you want to archive rather than store, you're probably looking at LTO tapes. They cost about $20 for 3TB, but the machines to read them are really expensive. We're talking $1500 or so. Plus reading off them is slower than a usual HDD, so it's really only if you're expecting to store something for like 30 years.
