Imagine you're an exterminator hired by the entire Earth with access to futuristic high grade military hardware, including but not limited to a crazy satellite laser weapon operator's literal death ray from the Earth's orbit, walking body armour suits that wield handheld pile bunkers or actual heavy artillery that usually requires vehicles and an actual Pacific Rim kaiju fighting robot.
And what size army would need such absurd fire power to fight against? A fuckton of B movie monsters, just way too many fucking aliens. They literally crawl out the walls.
You know all those mods for Skyrim/fallout that make your most powerful spell/nuke launcher fire 20+ shoots instantaneously? That's a legitimate weapon in endgame and it still doesn't take care of all the insects that come at you.
That's the game.

Yes, it's basically just a third person shooter with no gimmicks, just big open levels full of destructible buildings and a shit ton of bugs and aliens.

Large scale third person shooter against hundreds of enemies per mission. It has good longevity too. Once you start playing at the higher difficulty levels you almost have to play it like an MMO raid, being careful of how many enemies you pull at one time without getting overwhelmed.

Also: you get to punch a godzilla while in a giant robot.

EDF6 was announced so maybe wait for that.

It was a blast playing through this with my bro in split screen (I hex edit the game so it'd span two monitors).
