Gamemaker. Look up some tutorials that guide you through cloning a simple game. It's easy if you put the time in.

>know shit about programming
>dont know shit about gamedev
how do i buffer my graphics writes in ram

lets hear em

Ideas are literally worthless. Everyone has ideas.
The only thing that matters is the final product. You aren't smart, creative, or special for having a "great idea"
If you can't put it into practice it's worthless.

"Idea Guys" like yourself need to realize that your ideas are actually garbage and derivative anyway.

>You aren't smart, creative, or special for having a "great idea"
Jesuschrist user. Was it necessary to act this defensive?

>don't know how to do thing
>spend time complaining instead of learning thing
You deserve all the suffering in your life for being such an idiot

>have an idea
>it's been done

I know what you mean OP, I started to make a view to a kill the video game for gameboy. It was essentially a zelda clone on gameboy. I got about a third of the way, asked some people on Zig Forums and /vr/ for help. Got told nobody wanted to play my shit game and to give up. Stopped touching it and now the pc it was all on is dead. The ugly truth is nobody here actually cares about creativity or games it's a place for nostalgia and bots to push products for us to consume.

They're not being defensive. They're being realistic. Ideas are a dime a dozen. Execution is everything.

I know you cant do shit worth a damn but you could atleast tell us your idea right?

Thread should have ended here.

Idea guys are actually extremely important. The problem is that the vast majority of people who fancy themselves one are actually fucking terrible at it.
Even if you can't program, draw, make music or manage you can make yourself valuable to people out there off your ideas alone if they're actually good and you know to how communicate them.
Basically if you're bitching that your ideas are stuck, it already means you've failed.

there’s tons of tutorials on programming, stop being a lazy shit and start learning

Nihil novi sub sole.

>Have great ideas for videogames
>Actually knows programming
>Have a million clients that want me to program and maintain stuff so I have literally zero time for vidya

What's your idea user, I'm bored with game maker open

I prefer the term "Creative Director"

guys i have an idea for this open world zombie survival sim with crafting mechanics. i just dont know how to draw or program. please pm me if youre interested. i cant pay you up front but i can share some of the profits once we sell copies on steam

Making a game couldn't be easier these days unless you have a very complicated idea or genre in mind. The real problems are how devoted you are (given that you've given up before trying, I'd presume not at all) and how interesting your idea is.

It really shouldn't have. user actually knows nothing about game dev. Everyone who has seriously worked in it knows that a good idea guy is actually incredibly important.

Honestly this. The second you try to implement any of your great ideas, you will realise how complicated it is to do even the most basic shit, and will understand why so many games with high promise turn out to be streamlined piles of shit.

Yes... squid pro row...

You're thinking of directors. They typically have practical knowledge of how the workflow of a team works, and how to achieve their goal.
For indie games, idea guys are worthless, as teams are always much, much smaller.

I wanted to do a remake of alex kidd for so long
the best I did was a flash game in the newgrounds era
should have done something sooner

this, but even worst
>have an idea
>its been half-assed / with a forced political message
had an idea for an extremely depressing post-apocalyptic game like the last of us 2 since i was a kid, while i'm not going to pretend i was ever going to do it, the last of us 2 came close but it was executed shitty, forced and while depression and killing off characters is fine, they do it in an unrealistic way, are shocking for the sake of it, and the ending is retarded as fuck. will probably never get to see the depressing, realistic, hardship of a post apocalpstic game ever again because the last of us ruined it and now everyone will make badass can-never-die protagonist that always wins and comes out in once piece with no real danger or loss

>Have penis for vaginas
>Don't know shit about picking up females

Ideas don't mean shit without the will and knowhow of executing it

>one extremely successful series had what you consider to be a bad interpretation of an incredibly vague and long-lasting aesthetic, thus that aesthetic is inaccessible forever and that is why I can't make a game for it, not because I'm a lazy pile of shit
Nice coping, retard.

Oh boo hoo.
Nobody started out knowing how to program, everyone started from zero at one point and its never too late to start.

JUST LEARN.
