Immersive sim

Why MGS V isn't considered to be an immersive sim ?

both mgs v and zelda botw are immersive sims that immersive sim fags ignore because they're not a ripoff of system shock

there's nothing to immerse yourself in

immersed in shit more like haha

What the fuck even is an "immersive sim"?

Not first person. Too surface level in its simulation. Third person games are simply not suitable for immersing the player in a living, breathing world that reacts convincingly to their actions.

>immersive sim

immersive sims aren't simulations or even particularly immersive so its better off that nobody calls it one

the constant episodic movie shit that kojima forced in keeps reminding you that its a game rather than an immersive simulation

Games like Deus Ex and System Shock 2.

Nouveau faux academic parlance for "this game has a decent amount of non-linear interactivity in its levels"

when a game is designed like a simulation that allows you to interact with more shit than usual. the immersive part is that it tries to make all the elements feel convincing and not to pull you out of the experience.

ultima underworld is arguably the first proper example, dungeon crawler that where you can pick up everything in the world and it doesnt force you down specific gameplay styles

Literally anything

fantasy tech
like the ethnic cleanser

like arma virgins roleplaying

Simulators for the console gaming audience. (downgraded gameplay, riddled with cinematics)

Games that favor emergent gameplay and sandbox-y mechanics.

>allow the player to interact with the world - CHECK
>to player accomplish their goals (not the developers) - CHECK
>with immersion (i.e., don't keep reminding the player its a game) - NOPE
Basically it would be but for the 3rd person and Kojima's boner for 4th wall shenanigans.

This game is a lot buggier than I remember it being on launch.

>Accidentally call down chaff because I forgot I switched to that command on the previous mission with my binoculars, whatever
>But the chaff lasts forever and follows me around the entire map
>Can see my own night vision goggles when inside those giant trash boxes
>Quiet deciding to do fuck all when I order her to fire

Just picked it up on sale. Had already played all the way to the jungle area on a pirated a copy years ago but dropped it.

Immersive sims are first person, retards

Because enemies can't see you when your 15 feet in front of them as long as you dont stand up

>clones of ubisoft open world pseudo stealth, scan the settlement, xray vision, fetch quest games
>immersive
>sim
lol

>standing backlit in a hallway
>guard walks within 1 foot of me
>heh, he can't see because
>I'm standing in a shadow
No one said immersive sims had to be realistic.
Most of them really aren't.

If you mod shit like this out of TPP you can turn it into a pretty great stealth game. It can be very similar to Chaos Theory. It still doesn't fix the lack of proper narrative or the carrot & stick (lack of) quests/objectives that plagues games like BoTW and other open world trash.

>If you mod shit like this out of TPP you can turn it into a pretty great stealth game
Increasing detection range to the point you can't even throw sleep grenades at fully armored guards because of the range discrepancy and immediate alert just makes the game obnoxious.

Games in which you can stack up boxes for 10 minutes to skip a few rooms and cutscenes while a chacracter on your radio goes "Oh wow can't believe you decided to run through the roof haha so smart"

stealth systems have progressed. there's also an understanding of whats acceptable to the player and what isn't. i.e suspension of disbelief. There's literally no reason TPP does this other than as a crutch to cover up that it's not really trying to be a stealth game.
>standing in shadow =/=stand more than a stones toss away in broad daylight
it would at least make sense in grass or at night but it happens in broad daylight with no obstructions

what about thief 3

>stealthing up to them to get into range
>obnoxious
The enemies can't detect you if they can't see you. Sounds like you don't want a stealth game in the first place. Capeshit killed vidya.

80% of bases have completely open sight-lines at every angle. The only method of approach is dolphin diving into range to CQC/tranq everybody, or sniping everybody at range. Your insistence on making the enemies true to life when it comes to detection reduces effective tactics down to sniping across the majority of bases.

The only area that is truly closed off and would benefit from your changes is Code Talker's mansion, the only truly enclosed encounter space in the game.

>here is my stealth game
>it takes place almost entirely during the day
>and is a series of line of sight minigames
I dunno if immersive sims are your thing, user.
Maybe stick to pic related.

I didn't say anything about "true to life". Simulationism isn't about being realistic, just suspension of disbelief. Patrols and enemies can still be manipulated like a stealth game. It works.
Your post makes no sense but i'm sorry you felt insulted.
