Cannot WAIT for your quirky, 2D platforming rogue-lite, OP! Gonna' be epic!
EDIT: Thanks for the gold kind stranger!
What's your game and why do you think it's better than "modern game design".
What've you released?
I don't have a hundred million dollar budget.
what kind of game bro?
It's not a platforming roguelike that would defeat the whole point
Nothing yet but I have a prototype that seems to work where the game mechanics are VASTLY different than anything you've probably seen before. As far as I can tell no other game works like this.
I am not going to prove anything because I don't have to, this is mainly just a vent because I get frustrated by the state of games nowadays
Don't need a zillion dollars when your game mechanics are novel enough and engaging, although I have an artstyle that is unique enough and attractive and I do have a decent enough budget for marketing
It's a simulation game. That's all I am going to say.
Is it fun?
do you have an email?
>the game mechanics are VASTLY different than anything you've probably seen before
>It's a simulation game
These two statements seem very contradictory. Do your research kid, whatever you're doing it's been done I guarantee it
>design game with the express purpose of making it unique
it's doomed to fail
Oh yeah Im so hype waiting for your shitty flash game OP
good luck :)
Yes, it's a "just-one-more-turn" kind of feeling that you get from some (good) turn based games (this is not a turn based game)
Why
See I mean simulation in the strictest sense of the word. Technically all TRUE games are simulations so I haven't said much there.
And I did my research and while there are games roughly in the same genre, there aren't that many and the ones that do exist have complete different mechanics
>express purpose of making it unique
I never said that, that was just the result of my design process
Well, good luck bro. I'm working on my game too, albeit slowly because doing everything yourself is exhausting as fuck. I don't think my game will be "unique" but it's a type of game I always wanted to play.
>tfw OP saves vidya and starts a new golden age
Thank you
>flash
What is this 2004?
Thank you frens and best of luck to you my fellow indie dev
whats your email
Fucking good. It can only be good for the industry to have more passionate people making games. This is exactly what French new-wave directors did, and thank fuck for them
>See I mean simulation in the strictest sense of the word. Technically all TRUE games are simulations so I haven't said much there.
>And I did my research and while there are games roughly in the same genre, there aren't that many and the ones that do exist have complete different mechanics
tl;dr: It'll be shit.
You sound like the most pedantic and hard to deal with person. I'm guessing you've made a game that'll only appeal to autists who love spreadsheets more than grinding their dick inbetween the couch cushions (but not quite as much as licking the feet from their loli realdoll)
>You sound like the most pedantic and hard to deal with person
true.
asked him for his email and his response was to look a gift horse in the mouth (I'm a professional writer, but now he'll never have my help).
Did they? I can't see a response to your email question
As a professional writer, would you agree that Witcher 3 has better writing than most classic literature? Got into an argument with my dumb /lit/ friend
It depends how you classify "most." I think a lot of classic literature is Flaubert-cloning and not very impressive. The Witcher 3 is better than "a lot" of classic literature. Is it better than Wilde, Joyce, Pynchon? No way. Is it better than Fitzgerald, Salinger, Steinbeck? I think so.
It is complex but the phrase "easy to learn, hard to master" applies to it
What. At any rate my game doesn't have much prose/dialogue though
en.wikipedia.org
>movement was characterized by its rejection of the era's traditional filmmaking conventions in favor of experimentation and a spirit of iconoclasm
TIL. Not sure what was meant by a "spirit of iconoclasm" though
>no story
destined to fail
Thank you. Yeah he was trying to argue that LOTR was written better than Witcher 3 which is one of the worst takes I've ever heard
"spirit of iconoclasm" - desire to destroy icons, in this case traditional, conventional forms of artistic expression and representation.
Toklien was widely regarded as a boring writer at the time of LOTR's release. His prose isn't very impressive at all. He is a good mythmaker but not a good writer...
I have no idea how you pseuds could ever consider Witcher 3 an intellectual achievement in writing.
Lord of the Rings is worlds above your Polish schlock
>no words == no story
;)
Hmm. Any particular one you'd recommend seeing?
You seem like a faggot whose full of himself. The less professional writers involved in the production of a videogame, the better.
