I just started playing Nocturne, lads. It's my first venture into the series.
Technically it was actually the Metroidvania game but I suppose that one doesn't really count.
I just made it to Shibuya, it feels like I've barely scratched the surface so far.
Are there any things I should know before diving deeper into the game? Can I carry my man Frost through the entire journey, or will he have to go at some point?

I'm playing nocturne after I beat the royal I'm almost at 3rd semester and after nocturne I think I wanna try digital devil saga or maybe strange journey
It's best to fuse your demons once they fall behind.
Later on though, if you beat the optional black frost boss, you can meet and recruit him in the labyrinth of amala. He doesn't start with many skills, so you can pass on whatever you want to him with mitama fusion.
Keep fusing and fusing
Go full world of STR
Get all the Mgatama you see
Demon fusion is a central game mechanic, and you should fuse as many as possible.
Also, use buffs.
The Amala Network is optional to beat the game but required for a Dante rematch and the True Demon Ending

Currently emulating Nocturne for a second playthrough dont worry i own a copy. I have no clue how to use PCSX2, I copied the widescreen patch from the archive and put it in cheats, enabled them, and changed the native res to 3X and I got this. I'm guessing this is fine but please respond I have no clue and I might cry

Mainly focus on strength and vitality. Ignore magic completely.
Prioritize getting as many buff/debuff skills as possible on your lineup. Dekunda and dekaja are very useful in nocturne.

I thought you just had to check apply widescreen patches in the drop down menu
That's just how the game is, it's the same for Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 as well.
There's some blur but a lot of blur is an emulator issue

I have no idea. It could just be my iso but I check the box and nothing noticeable happens in-game. I tried the exact same with God Hand and that game noticeably changes.

Just beat it for the first time a month ago, it's brilliant man. You really can't fuck yourself too hard, demon fusing can be done at any level. For your semi-fiend, contrary to what the poster above me said I ignored vitality. Had it at like 10 all game. I went full strength, first leveling that to 30, then going back and forth between luck and agility, for hits and crits and shit.
