Twin Snakes had a work around for this, you had to hold down Y while releasing the A button to lower your gun without firing (or something to that effect)

I just finished mgs3 recently on emulator for the first time. I used RPCS3 to emulate a ps3. it does a great job, smooth controls, and not too laggy and my pc isn’t the best.

Always kinda irked me. They tested it and were satisfied. It had to annoy some people that tested the game. It was the same in mgs2 as well.

DS2 had pressure sensitive face buttons. Only Kojima used them, for some reason. They were horrible.
