No, that is not a good thing dude.
2022 release
I could care less.
Nintendo's DNF
What happens to a game when it isn't released, or is made but never sees the light of day? Where does it go?
Nothing is going to change the fact that this game has been having serious problems and delays.
The game is in trouble. It's not impossible for them to get their shit together and save it. But until we see proof otherwise, the outlook on the game is bleak no matter what staff hires we hear about.
>FPS team hires FPS talent
I'm absolutely stunned
Probably not. This probably means MP4 will have a multiplayer focus and single player will be secondary. I’m sure it would have to better than Hunters or Federation Force, but statistically it wouldn’t likely be up to the standards of other multiplayer-focused shooters. It would polarize players like me who only care about single player and multiplayer shooter fans would pass. Not to mention this also implies it’s several years off. At least there is Metroid 5 from Mercury Stream. Samus Returns was excellent, fuck the haters
The original also had problems and delays. They cancelled all of Retro’s other projects (rumors say they did the same this time too). It also switched from being a third person 3D platformer to a FPS.... at the advise of Miyamoto of all people. “American rike these type of game”. He also advised ALBW to have ALTTP’s style for similar reasons. “American are nostargic they wir rike Rink to the Past game styre”
>The original also had problems and delays.
False. Retro got the IP in 2000 and released the game in 2002, so Metroid Prime got 2 years and change worth of dev time at best.
A lot of the people at Retro who worked on the Prime Trilogy work at id now.
just give up
What pisses me most about this is that very few, if any, are trying to move the 3D metroidvania genre forward. The 2D side is getting tons of love from the indie scene so even if Metroid 5 or a new Castlevania never come out I wouldn't be too upset by it, but the Prime games are pretty much the only ones of their kind, or am I wrong? What else is in the horizon that is like it?
He's being hired as the lead engineer guys. It's not like he's gonna come in and start giving game design tips. His job is to make sure the game looks and runs well. And from what I know of Call of Duty, say what you want about the games but on a technical level they're all impressive. Part of what made the Prime games great was that they somehow made some of the best looking games on the GameCube while also running at a near locked 60 fps. I hope they can replicate that with Prime 4, and I think they will because I don't think Retro has released a 30 fps game before.
They hired Uncharted devs for Tropical Freeze.
The guy in charge at Retro is good at putting the right people on the right positions
It was announced that Retro would be working on MP4 1.5 years ago, not 5 you fucking sped
>COD
Ah shit
This
Source or stfhu with your miyamoto hate burner. Christ almighty stop turning a 50+ old jap man into some boogeyman trying to destroy gaming.
Well, at least we still have Metroid Dread.
blops 1 was good
devs that have worked with miyamoto have had nothing but bad things to say about him. just look at the development of starfox 2, for example
I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE SOME MONG TRIED TO TELL ME THAT PRIME 4 WASN'T VAPORWARE IN ANOTHER THREAD
They're never gonna forgive the man for what he did to Paper Mario.
And in their defense, I probably wouldn't either.
So they just threw everything out and started from scratch huh?
>CopyPaste company hires CopyPaste generic fps dev
like pottery
BO is good
>actually posting in a phoneposter's thread
what happened to Zig Forums?
So you still have some cares left to give?
That's the Famitsu review for OoT, right (back when four 10s meant something)
Like a year ago
Where have you been?
>5 years
Dev hell. That CoD dev just wanted out of the grind. He's going to regret it.
I didn’t. Switch to FPS was good. LTTP style was good. I like Miyamoto, he’s objectively the best. Not all of his ideas are gold (blowing flowers in DKCR) but most of them are
Well I figured there would be some reused assets and a starting point to speed up development.
Awesome, can’t wait for a cutscene where I get to press A to make Samus pay her respects to her dead parents.
