what a fucking tragedy too
Feel bad for the NA crowd that's about to experience episode 4 for the first time
Gameplay additions were fine, but it's Episode 4's story that's a huge dumpster fire.
what's so bad about it?
>story
oh, I don't care
It's just the story that's bad
NA has almost all the stuff that was a part of episode 4 already except for crafting
Summoner was originally part of episode 4 and was the main addition when it came to JP
At least it's only a few months
The isekai trend was getting real popular at the time, and SEGA decided instead of following PSO2's storyline, they'd put it on hold to do their own isekai. Episode 4 reveals that the universe of PSO2 is just a video game, which people from real world Earth can log into and become ARKS (the player characters). But the game leaks into the real world corrupting objects and military vehicles, as well as tossing a girl from Earth into the PSO2 game. She's super useless and just whines about everything. Your character has to go to Earth to fight back the corruption. Your character is not a player from Earth.
They ended up walking back "PSO2 is just a game" into "PSO2 is a parallel dimension to Earth" by the end of the story.

that sounds fucking hilarious actually
So it's like the internet from the megaman games?
>They ended up walking back "PSO2 is just a game" into "PSO2 is a parallel dimension to Earth" by the end of the story.
Except it was their intention from the beginning. The fact that you and Xierra could peek into Earth and see high school girls taking a bath with shota means it's a parallel universe. Then a crapload of infodump about Ether = Photon and Mother implies this as well. I agree they using PSO2 as the actual game in the story is dumb though
Don't forget that the writer would go on 2chan and start fights in PSO2 threads, usually ending with "Well why don't you write a better story"?
Should I play PSO2 for Lisa?
This guy literally has no idea on what he's talking about.
No, you should play PSO2 for Io.
Not my cup of tea.
will i like hero if i main hunter
He's cute!
Is this a version of earth where guys stop bathing after they graduate from shotahood?
Based. I'll never get tired of the "kouhai that looks up to you" archetype.
Jumping the shark is the leap into hilariously out of place collaborations.
is the launcher on the ms store still fucked?
ya
use da tweaker
Was this the only collab that actually had quests tied to it?
Saints Row.
does pso2na have odin?
Yeah, that's kind of Eva's thing.
>Literally making shit up
That's not how the story in EP4 went at all, though the real thing isn't any better. Earth is in Subspace, which is the place the Photoners dumped a failed Xion clone, who is Mother. Using PSO2 as a game was really just Mother trying to get out of subspace to get revenge on the Photoners, though they're all gone at this point. Phantoms are just based off of people's thoughts and such given a more physical form so you'd get stupid stuff like White Day Afin or the Evangelion event. "God" has the PSO2 title screen logo on his back.
Dont worry episode 5 and 6 will redeem it.
will do thanks mane
The MHFZ one had shit too but I didn't take any screenshots
So the failed Xion clone didn't come back as Dark Falz?
Episode 5 sucks shit too. Things only get good again on Episode 6.
Is there a place where I can properly read the lore/story? Ive already seen episode Oracle.
Is PSO2 canon to PSO and PSU?
holy shit sauce?
Ep 5 storywise is alright
Interactions among the Dark Falz were great and the ending was hot blooded as fuck.
After Mother absorbs the girl's player character who became its own thing (darker energy + ether bullshit, something like that), she eventually gets corrupted by it too much and becomes ESCA-Falz Mother, so close enough.
PSO2 is most likely not canon to PSO and PSU. As for reading up on everything I'm not really sure, I've just played the game on JP and did the story when the patch caught up, though I might be forgetting some things EP4 was a while ago. Can't wait to marathon it with a friend who has no idea what EP4 is like.
Where does everyone go to on JP to farm exp at 80+?
Wait for the featured quest called "A World Engulfed in Shadow" or the castle one who's anme I forget and just multiblock it with expert off. Alternatively bonus keys
