Some people still play the older ones, but everyone will switch to Strive when it comes out, or stick with Xrd Rev 2, likely the latter in terms of community.
Strive is gonna be a bit more new player friendly, and the best way to get into fighting games is to just practice and get your ass kicked until you start figuring out how to block or read character tells or potential ones.

buy xrd rev 2 (all in one pack if you're on pc), AC+R doesn't have Ram and the netplay is dogshit (hence why nobody plays the game).
Xrd also has a decent tutorial and combo challenges to get you started.

In every single fighting game I've ever played, the character I gravitate to first is always considered very difficult to play. Maybe I'm cursed?
Not that that stops me, I'm too autistic to be turned off by losing constantly.

Anytime user, but I will warn you, if you do get into it with Rev 2, she may not be your main. She is a technical character to learn, not entirely hard, but might be for you starting out and you might like the feel of another character instead, even at just a very basic level. But my advice, if you really want to play Ram, pick her, learn her, learn how she plays against certain characters and matchups, and stick with it. That's how mains happen, usually you pick a character and tough it out, even if you suck with them in a lot of cases.
