The Switch has been one giant circus of mediocrity out of Nintendo. They retired their entire handheld department to focus on a "hybrid" and all it got us was a handful of games that would've been on the 3DS's successor, if that.
This was Nintendo's chance to have their best library of exclusives since the GCN on their console and they wasted it, because they fucking HATE their hardcore fans. No seriously. It was not hard to make a new Mario Party and Paper Mario that catered to fans. They're both still cramming casualization down the player's throat appealing to a non existent audience of casuals.
They still refuse to revive a dozen IPs fans have all but begged for over the past decade. F-Zero, Wario Land, Advance Wars, Golden Sun, the list goes on. Half their IPs such as Metroid, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Mario & Luigi and more are in development hell or completely dead due to mismanagement. It's not because Nintendo doesn't have the money it's because Nintendo have becoming massive corporate whores who only care about maximizing profit and actively spite their hardcore fans.
Odyssey and Smash were table scraps thrown to their hardcore fans. Everything else is simply chasing the casual money and that's 99% of what Nintendo cares about. The Gamecube was the last time Nintendo even tried to appeal to their fans and since the Wii they just wish we'd all fuck off and die if we aren't going to consoom their mediocre shit.
Was hoping I could pick up a lite cheap recently but it seems like theyre holding value. They intentionally limiting supply or something?

Nintendo's swimming in money now. They make BILLIONS every year. Yet they can't spare an insignificant amount of resources to bring their old beloved IPs back. It's not even about being a smart corporation. The investments for those games are so low they'd barely feel a dent even if they flopped. At this rate, it's acting out of complete spite. It's like Nintendo revels in hurting its fanbase as much as possible the moment they strike gold with the Blue Ocean strategy.
COVID killed production by like 60% or more. Most models sold are those that were produced before the pandemic.
Even if the assembly is in Japan itself, they still need parts (chips and screens, etc.) so if any step in that chain is broken for whatever reason, production comes to a grinding halt.
Imagine being OP and waking up every morning and seething with rage over Nintendo.

That's literally the ideal target audience for Nintendo. Non-price sensitive audience with too much money and no standards. It's the ideal demographic to sell your overpriced trash to. It's demanding as fuck pleasing a hardcore audience. You need to excel in every aspect of game design not to catch shit and even then is not a guarantee for good sales. Nintendo wants this audience of soccer moms and pokekiddies. This is what they aim for every gen because it's literally free money after that.
