Heroes of Might and Magic

why didn't ubisoft don't hire nival for making new homm? HoMM V was good.
Is there any possibility that we see new homm game in this century?

hoMaM 5 was never good
and never will be

why

every homm game after homm3 was a flop because most of community loves it so much that any change from it will be deemed as heresy but at the same time they want the new game to be more than a reskin (which wouldn't work out anyways)
it's just not worth for ubisoft to try anymore because no matter what they do, old players won't be satisfied and new players won't come to homm anyways

Homm 5 with both expansions is as good as 3

yeah, if i remember, homm fans didn't liked idea that hoom is techno-fantasy, and because this forge city was deleted from homm 3.

>most of community loves it so much that any change from it will be deemed as heresy

Horn of the Abyss is pretty well liked.

>HoMM V was good
meh, HoMM V was only alright
on paper it seems just like homm3 (with how the castles, units and heroes work), but the way the big 3d models on the maps worked really limited your freedom of progression. Instead of more open worlds you almost always had these linear/branching pathways of maps, where you rarely had use for more than a main and a secondary hero

none of them were flops aside from 7 which was a low budget broken mess on release. Ubisoft was more like "if we can't put as little effort into the series as we can and still make people buy the game then it's a series that doesn't worth dealing with"

Disingenious bullshit.
Not a single game since 3 even shipped in a finished state. 4 was a weird experiment pushed out by a dying publisher and still it found its fans. 5 was an awkward attempt at bringing the formula into 3D and it got good by the time of the 2nd expansion (though it's not without its issues) and it generated so much good will that people actually trusted Ubisoft with 6th game which sold really well even though it was absolute garbage, buggy, poorly thought out, with paperthin content and features nobody asked for. So when they tried to make another shitty unfinished game that sort of looked like those old games (tm) but had no vision, no effort and no love put into it, it was unsurprising that the end result was a horrible bomb.

Don't blame this on players. They made three shitty games and one okay one. It got carried so far by fans despite poor showings over and over.

That knight on the cover looks cool but the ingame graphics is basically WoW-lite. Why can't we have a fantasy game without cartoon graphics?

I hate it, but not because it's new, you can just feel that the new castle wasn't made with as much care and thought put into it as the original castles were
homm3 units had those perfect designs where you could clearly feel what tier the units have /who is stronger/weaker. The new castle units are visually all over the place

youtube.com/watch?v=2TSSJIqaMKk - Welcome to HOMM's future.

Well at least they went back to the original world instead of the revamped one we got with V.

>. The new castle units are visually all over the place
No they're not, it's just OLD GOOD NEW BAD.

>actually using MM7 Antagarich map
I don't know how to feel about this

The amount of rage this series produces never ceases to amaze me. And this is coming from someone who grew up playing 3 and liked 5 with its expansions.

I love tons of shit from the new games. This new castle is just bad

Most active players disagree with you. Just how it is.

They're not actually, Erathia is just another kingdom on Ashan :^)

HoMMV with expansions>HoMMIII with expansions>HoMMIII>HoMMV

To be fair the whole aesthetic of their forge town was completely fucked up from what we saw. It seemed like there was no coherent faction-wide design and it just looked like random artworks and models put together.

Disciples I and II? Gothic I and II?

I want to be angry at this but that shit has been going for 15 years at this point

This wasn't actually a bad game, but they pulled the plug on its servers really fucking fast.

5 is the best HoMM game there is.

Redpill me on HoMM 5, I've only played 3.

This. Just look at the shitty, lazy HoMM3 “remaster". Ubisoft simply don't give a fuck about the series

Oh is that what happened to it? I played it for a while, enjoyed making invincible Fate Weaver walls. Stopped playing for some time and it just disappeared.

Brave opinion also correct

>orchestral music
>baby graphics
Is it possible for a human being to be this out of touch?

These games are mostly aimed at Chinese market.

I like 4 as much as 3.

why is the expansion not included in the remastered version it's so incredibly lackluster

V with expansions is great, but you still need the fanpatch to actually make it playable.

To be fair I only tried it with all expansions so if it was shit on its own at launch I wouldn't know.
But overall the factions were fun, having two upgraded units to choose from was good and the 3D look suits this type of game well.
