I've really been to a FPS mood lately, recommend some of your favorite games please

I've completed Titanfall 2 and Doom 2016 this last week. I also tried out Halo:CE but I didnt really like it so I dropped it. Please recommend some more of your favourite ones, I didn't really play many FPS games so you can even recommend classics/must play games, because I probably haven't played them.

in a FPS mood*, not to, sorry

Get Doom Eternal on sale

yeah, I think I'll pirate it, I've been keeping my eye on it since I loved Doom2016, but I'm thinking I should switch it up for a bit with something else to not get burned out. What about a slower FPS, like Stalker or something? I have not played any game in that series, how do I get into it and is it worth it?

try playing quake 1, it has a unique setting and atmosphere, especially with the music, it has less enemies in-your-face like the OGs doom's but the enemies are tougher and you need to use the correct weapon to kill them, kinda like nu-doom, the level design is fun and a rellic for being the frist 3d fps ever

sorry, I forgot to mention I played it. So pretty much, the only FPS I played are Doom1+2, Quake1, Doom2016, Titanfall 2 and I think that's about it. Should I try out Stalker shadow of chernobyl? It looks like I'll enjoy it. Or what about some wolfenstein games? I've never played any but they look fun.

STALKER series is good, it's just going to be much slower in comparison to the games you just played. Expect bugs and weird things, there are also a million mods if that's your thing. Just play it unmodded for a bit first

Play Duke 3D

wow user! i played both STALKER Soc and my only wolf game, Return to castle wolfenstein
Stalker SoC, is a really unique game, is really inmmersive, the game feels alive and dangerous, the game is open world but separated by loading screens, the only thing that most people dont like is the how the "bullet sponge" the enemies are, for me i never had a problem, just try to be calm and patient, and take your time to do headshots and avoid getting flanked, and the bugs too, people say stalker is a buggy mess of a game but i never had a crash to desktop, theres a mod called ZRP that fixes the game if you wanna check it trough, and also the frist guns you get are garbage, but later you get better guns like modified AKs or Shotguns (usually shotguns are great for hunting mutants), i hope you really get into STALKER, because people and few friends of mine didnt get because of these problems, on the other side RTCW...
Rtcw is a really good game, is basically WW2 with supernatural elements, and its really good and challenging, if you are a more old fps style run and shoot player you will like this, it has some Quake-vein in it, and the enemies are fun and challenging to fight, and the setting itself is really godlike, and memorable

is this a good version to buy? Its pretty cheap

It's firmly okay, but Randy Pitchford owns Duke Nukem now and he's a massive faggot. You can find the original version on /vr/'s FPS general. Run that with eDuke32.

>enemies are bullet sponges
I heard that that's due to people playing on easier difficulties, and how it should be played on the hardest. Difficulty affects bullet damage, so you take more bullets to get killed but so do enemies from what I've heard

Also i forgot to mention, rtcw and stalker has really good mods to play and have fun with, i recommend check mods after you completed your playtrough, if you have a question regarding sdalger, try asking on /sg/ on vg, good luck and godspeed user

Not that user but it's alright. It's missing the "Duke it out in DC" and Caribbean expansions though. The rewind feature is great

i never played Soldier of Fortune 2, it is really good? it looks awesome and also the gore system looks neat

Try Painkiller or Shadow Warrior.

Shadow Warrior and any of the build engine games are fantastic. Blood can be pretty bullshit at times with its enemy placement, but that game ooze's atmosphere.
Also check out Star Wars Dark Forces series, the second one is like Quake but with force powers.

Ignore the zoomer shit. Play the proper classics:

Doom 1, 2, 64EX.
Duke Nukem 3D
BLOOD
Turok 1-2
Shadow Warrior (97)
Quake 1-2
Half-Life 1-2 + expacks.
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Soldier Of Fortune 1-2
Far Cry 1
Serious Sam -series
FEAR 1 + expacks
Crysis 1 + WH
STALKER trilogy
Max Payne 1-2 (not really fps, but close enuff)

Many of these got amazing mods as well.

>Stalker or something? I have not played any game in that series, how do I get into it and is it worth it?
Nigga, you are CLEARLY new as fuck.
STALKER games are some of THE most quintessential PC exclusives, and Zig Forums-core as fuck. You will not find anything like it anywhere else. I personally have put tens of thousands of hours on all 3 games.

Consult this Starting Guide,
then see the /vg/'s huge Stalker General for more tips and links:

Play in the release order.
Start with no mods - only latest patch, OR get the full "Starter Pack" first;
these contain bug-fixers and light visual mods that can help performance as well.
Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods.
Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.

Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area can be a bit boring.

>i never played Soldier of Fortune 2, it is really good? it looks awesome and also the gore system looks neat
It's neat and gory as fuck. Extremely challenging too, but fortunately you can use a "custom" difficulty to iron out some of the BS mechanics.

sdalger user here, thanks for the recommendation on SoF 2, i think il pirate it, and give it a shot

Any and all major source ports restore OST

>since I loved Doom2016
Only a child who has never played a Doom game could say this.

I actually have cod bo2 on steam, but I didn't play it yet. Is the singleplayer good?
yup I've heard about Shadow warriors, looks fun, and so does blood of course.
I finished both doom1+2, stop being jaded, doom2016 is fun.
thank you!

I bookmarked that thread, I'll go on a FPS binge for a while and play most of the stuff you recommended. Thanks!

I'm a massive fps fan
Atm im just trying to collect every steam "retro" fps

i.imgur.com/F2Rw4PD.png

I reccomend Ion Fury / Amid Evil / Dusk
the 3 FPS games that have revitalized the genre

As far as the other user's reccomending Duke Nukem, I'd reccomend Blood before any of the other build engine games
It's by far the best

Turok
Turok 2
Blood
Shadow Warrior
Duke 3D
Heretic
Hexen
Powerslave/Exhumed
Half-Life
Quake 2
Alien Vs Predator 2000

Don't pay money for Duke. It goes to Randy Fagford. The 20th anniversary has weird mouse acceleration you can't turn off, no expansions and awful compressed audio. Use eduke32 source ports instead. Or pirate the "Megaton Edition"

Seconding Dark Forces, I played the first one a few years ago and it's a great Doom clone with a Star Wars paintjob.

>What about a slower FPS, like Stalker or something?
Shit gunplay and massively overrated by slavboos.don't bother

The only Fps game you need to keep track of is Wrath aeon of ruin

OK nigger. Stay mad.

>STALKER games are some of THE most quintessential PC exclusives
>shitty slav attempt to make own fallout
>You will not find anything like it anywhere else.

If I had such shit taste in fps I would be mad
Recommending bulketshit and bioshit lmao

>Run that with eDuke32.
What about GDX?

For me, it's the CO-OP mod

Attached: RTCW COOP 19.png (1024x768, 1.21M)

Eduke is better

What's the difference?

Dark Forces is often overlooked despite its pretty fucking advanced engine at the time. Mostly becusse its a cunt to run and has no modern source port.

Im pretty sure it's the first FPS game where you could LOOK UP/DOWN! WOAH! and also jump. And it had items to. Like night vision goggles, snow cleats, shit like that. And it had lots of scripted moving 3D objects and shit. It's obviously super dated today but it's really advanced for the time
