>If someone I vaguely knew slid into the messages on my phone and said something that was unnervingly flirty I would laugh them off (“Ha!”) for fear of alienating a connection I might require later, and to prevent finding myself on the wrong end of a subtweet or industry rumour. I sought to cease any conflicts by settling anything bordering on a dispute off social media. When a producer called me a “pain in the ass” at an afterparty after a stressful week of lacking production details I needed to do the best job possible, I walked back to my hotel with a friend, wondering if I would ever be invited to work with them again, as opposed to thinking whether I should. When the CEO of an esports org insisted I fly out to meet them for a face-to-face meeting, and rejected my requests for an initial remote call instead, I should have declined to work with them there and then, especially when they were determined to talk via DMs than business email. When they sent some Instagram DMs about my appearance in a couple of stories, I should have set them straight. But I didn’t. Instead I gave them an idea I had been wanting to develop for years and spent two uncomfortable days filming it. Unsuprisingly, the project was doomed from the start.
>So now I have to be at peace with the fact that my views may make some feel uncomfortable at times, but that does not mean I am wrong to express them. By the very nature of being a women onscreen in esports, my presence is political. Every time I get a message from a girl or a woman who says they like the work I do, I’m determined to stick around.
the 1% has been actively exploiting the lower classes for decades now and you all choose to be angry over this

Imagine lying awake at night, stressed that someday soon you might be out of a job, simply because you made a joke people didn’t get, or because you’re one woman “too many”. What an incredibly vile thing to have to worry about. And the loneliness that comes with it - I don’t know if I could deal with that kind of thing. And when it’s over something you can’t even control? As simple as being a woman?
Double standards like this make my blood boil, and is another example of how slow the march for progress really is. The fact that this kind of behaviour still exists in any position of power is a disgrace.

What makes ESports and overall gaming so male-centric? I like the idea to make a push for more women in gaming, games and ESports.

All you need to know about this

Women are culturally pushed away from technology and competition, and many gaming communities and cultures are overtly hostile to women.

Men flirt with and seek women. It's human nature. We've been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years, we've been doing it since we were slimy little lizard-fish climbing out of the sea.
Natural instinct is to reproduce, and to seek out someone to reproduce with.
What the fuck doesn't feminism get about that?
Flirting is not harassment. Oh, it's uncomfortable? Tell them to fuck off then. Don't fucking act shy and hide like you've just been molested by your uncle you fucking idiot.

>I like the idea to make a push for more women in gaming, games and ESports. what the fuck does that even mean? the people who play games well are the ones who are good at playing games, if women want to play video games well nobody is stopping them, the only way to accomplish what you want is to specifically exclude men
Daniel Jackson
Gaming is going hard into racism, sexism, bigotry. I experience some of it in any online game.

It's not that at all. Women just aren't raised to be interested in video games. They fucking cry that there aren't enough women in S.T.E.M and blame the patriarchy for it without realizing the majority of women aren't fucking interested.
Matthew Rodriguez
Women have successfully infiltrated a hobby/organization and founded another sub-industry of gender-based grievance to sell to other women in lieu of meaningful participation with the core of said hobby/organization.
>Thoughts? Esports is a meme that more that likely exists purely to allow organized crime factions to launder money by funnelling it into this shit nobody cares about. None of it is organic, it's all forced as hell. I'm amazed it pulls any advertisers to begin with but I expect the few interested to pull out after the last week of showing how volatile this joke of a sub-industry is and how it's just a group of unprofessional perverts and feeble women who can't say "Stop." when someone touches her inappropriately. It's radioactive and everyone should just stay away and let it die and video games will be healthier as a result in the future.

>By the very nature of being a women onscreen in esports, my presence is political. Zero self awareness.
Men generally have better reflexes and higher reaction speed than women. The difference isn't really signifigant enough to make a difference for 99% of the players, but at the highest level of play where the money is, even slightest advantage can get you the win. This is why Hitbox controllers aren't allowed in fighting game tournaments, they give a SLIGHT execution speed advantage to people who master them. But yeah. Since pro-gaming scene focuses on the few top-level players, and men have inherent advantage, of course the top players will be men. And like it or not, humans want to do similar things to people who are similar to them. Since there's no barely any high-level female players, girls don't really feel motivated to pick up these games.
Noah Campbell
Going into esports is almost universally a stupid idea. Even most of the guys in OWL right now would be better off building a real career. Men are biologically inclined to take those ridiculous risks, women are more inclined to play it safe. Simply said, women aren't stupid enough to go into esports.
