just dvd player exploit, useless for many as it requires burning a dvd to use it, FMCB is cheaper
Why don't you tell us all about it.
And what is that thing?
The thing is it DOESNT require modding. You just burn and go.
I already have a hard drive with McDonald's so its useless to me but pretty cool if I ever want to mess with my slim.
>GUIZE DER IZ BIG NE THING!!11!!
>I DUN KNO WAT IT IZ THO
OP confirmed for double digit iq
somehow you can use an exploit in the dvd player to play burned games even with newer consoles
Can you elaborate more? Maybe share this exploit with the class?
>even with newer consoles
that's not the point of it
the point is that the guy found an exploit, I imagine in the part that reads/parses the dvd content, that allows you to run homebrew straight off that dvd without the need for your ps2 to be hardmodded or softmodded
kewl
no
github.com
at least link it moron op
only works on specific versions of the consoles and fmcb/opl+hdd/opl+network is cheaper and better.
It would have been neat 15 years ago as a simpler alternative.
I'm assuming OMBRU AND EMUAYUHS has already done a video.
>Just talks about it
>doesn't say how to play burned games
Based useless channel.
You're supposed to just stop developing new hacks and work on homebrew content after you reach the point of booting games off the hard drive effortlessly. Does anyone seriously care about burning discs?
Better compatibility
To add to this, we can boot and play just about any ps2 game we want off just about any ps3 we want now. Like what the fuq
For what, collection games like Capcom classics? There are better ways to play those than a ps2 now
This is targeted towards the ultimate third world poorfags, Chinese Brazilians and Iranians
just use swap magic nerd
this might serve as an entry point for getting free mcboot on your system to begin with without having to buy a memcard with it preloaded
i still have a few blank dvds lying around from the 2000s that i never ended up using and i have laptops with dvd burning capabilities, it'd save me the trouble of buying a memcard if i had a ps2 to begin with (i just emulate ps2 games)
Yes. If you want to play burned games you need freemcboot or a fat ps2 for the hard drive trick. Not all hard drives are supported and you would have to get a freemcboot memory card mailed to you if you want to go that route. This would be the lowest barrier to entry for playing burned disks, just run it through the patcher and play. Imagine being able to burn and run ANY Ps2 game with just a few clicks.
This will also lower the price for ODE methods probably.
And if not I still think that it's neat stuff, having more options is always better
the ODE method is already cheaper than this method.
You can boot burned games on unmodified consoles due to a DVD exploit, but only on ONE SPECIFIC firmware at this time.
PS1 had a much easier and more fun exploit.
You put in a game that works and right after the piracy check during the PS logo, you swap in your burnt ISO disc.
Played Bushido Blade doing that.
Is there a good way to play PS1 backups as well on a homebrewed PS2 or am I better off modding a separate PS1?
Freemcboot + HDD? maybe in the long run but getting a tower of 100 DVD ready to burn for $20 or less may be enough for the normies
Emulation is for normalfags, people who are playing on real hardware will happily pay $20 for a sata network adapter, $25 for a 500gb hard drive and call it a day.
This solution would have been neat 15 years ago. These days if you tell someone about it they'll have to buy a dvd burner (nobody has used these in like 10 years), find a specific revision PS2, patch their games, and buy a $25 spindle of DVDs.
Since the cost is the same, what's the appeal?
Don't these types of discs wear out the laser faster?
Yes but Rule of Rose is $500.
Am I the only one who thinks back to burning actual DVDs for the PS2 and goes "eeew" after getting spoiled by generations of consoles where you can just FTP over the games or copy them to a memory card? I'm not even a zoomer, I started with the NES back then.
Pretty sure that's an antipiracy rumor, been burning discs for Saturn and PS1 for years and they still work
you arent the only one, this exploit is useless
>without having to buy a memcard with it preloaded
Just buy agent under fire and beat the first level
MY DICK........hahahah.....sorry.
>mfw .hack//Qurantine is over $100
It has to do with the quality of burns really. If it's not a good burn it will take longer to read the data and obviously this stresses the laser more.
Emulation is superior to playing on a ps2.
too bad it doesn't work with cds because the sound in ridge racer v is fucked on opl
I did the HDD trick just for this bullshit, fuck scalpers. I hope this exploit takes off.
Namco games are always complicated. Klonoa 2 working as well as it does now shows it's possible, but it's gonna take time.
wew
I'm thinking of sending my slim 90001 ps2 to be modded with a modbo as a guy offers the service for $50 and I'm not good at soldering. I had a modded ps2 phat for Japanese games but it feels like it's starting to die and choke at loading screens (more and more freezes).
I know I can do free mcboot but I have a bunch of imports I like playing. Is it worthwhile to have the slim modded or should I try to rescusitate the phat?
>not knowing about Swap Magic in 2000+20
