>FF7 sold well.
>Square tried to make FF7 again
>Western Burgers only played 7 so made the automatic assumption that is what FF was.

Enix.

13

>americans ruin everything
so buisness as usual then?

MMO's were a mistake, and 15 was shit.
While 13 was bad, 13-2 was pretty good.

Nothing
FFXV is great

Nomura

sakaguchi left and FF12 was extremely rushed and also had forced japanese teenager MCs even though it was going to be a more adult story

FFX ruined the series by making it a linear cinematic experience with bad gameplay and non-existent good side content.

>FFX comes out
>it's a linear movie
>sells super well
>nomura and kitase decide to milk it further
>makes a budget sequel that is trash-tier called FFX-2
>still sells well
>they decide they should do the same for FF7
>"Compilation of FF7"
>again, trash-tier games
>STILL selling well
>they decide they should push it even FURTHER with FF13
>"Fabula Nova Crystallis"
>FF13 comes out, using everything they learned with FF10
>No one likes it, even lower than trash
>still forced to make sequels they promised
>absolute disaster of games that are tanking the brand's reputation in every way
>bravely default sells better than mainline Final Fantasy games despite Nintendo begging Square to release it in the west

Enix was publishing better games than Square at that time. The CEO of Square Enix was someone coming from Squaresoft. Every bad decision taken in the company came from the Squaresoft side.

Enix didn't decide to make a shitty ass movie thinking they were the Disney of Japan. Enix didn't give a shit about that. They were even against putting FMVs in their JRPGs.

Not the point. Square and Enix both made great games until they merged. Everything since has been overdesigned tripe.

Every mainline FF except 9 and 12 tried to be FF7
FNC
Luminous Engine

The movie and FFX-2 were both made by Squaresoft, without Enix's input.

It has overstayed its welcome and needs to go now play YS GAMES

They haven’t made a good game since FFX

FFXI is a cash-in
FFXII was garbage, only autistic Matsuno cocksuckers defend it
FFXIII was a disaster
FFXIV is another cash-in
FFXV was an unfinished disappointment

>X2 was published by square in japan but the game was by SE.
How does that make any sense?

read something backwards. Was published by SE in the west.

Still, SE is responsible for nearly 20 awful FF games made post merger.

FFXII was great and it had at least the decency to not give birth to FFXIII. The majority of the staff involved in FF13 were the people involved in the garbage fire that was FF10.
Matsuno had made FF Tactics and Vagrant Story, two games considered as absolute classics and some of the highest point of Square's library. The people behind FF10 made FF13, Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children and the failed Versus XIII project that turned out to be an even worse game with FFXV. These people ruined the series for two whole decades and they even fucked up FF7 Remake with their fanfiction bullshit.
You know what the FFXII staff did? They were called in to salvage FFXIV alongside Naoki Yoshida and it's not the most critically acclaimed game in the series since FFXII.
Thank god they are working on FFXVI now. We can finally have another good game not made by these FFX autists that put the series to the ground for 20 years

FFX is Japan’s favorite and Yuna is their sweetheart.
Meanwhile nobody gives a shit about Matsuno’s forgettable trash like Ramza.
Seethe harder.

Japan also loves Lightning so their opinion should be rightfully discarded

*Chad-struts into thread*

*Flops dick on the table*

Nothing.

Merger

This. Even 8 and 9 were unfinished messes because squaresoft got too big for their britches.

The Fantabulous Nobalus Crystasis

Sakaguchi left. It was this exact point where the series went on this downward spiral of constant development hells and only occasionally good games in spite of Square Enix rather than because of any of their practices.

The sad thing is I went back to play X and it felt refreshing compared to the present.
It definitely started a long downward spiral, pun unintended but convenient.

Jesus fucking Christ, his tisms is something amazing to witness

There's honestly too many factors in FF's death for me to discuss. But fuck I seriously miss classic FF. Especially 4-6. I love the PSX era games too, but the series hasn't been the same since then.

>t. seething Zig Forumsshart

Thank fuck it (looks to be) over.
Of course now they're gonna stall as long as possible with the 3 FF7-R games. But hopefully we'll see what's actually next soon.

Agreed, it definitely needs one of those long expositional videos that's usually clickbait but necessary to get everything in the past couple of decades.

>Zig Forums
What are you talking about?

Trying to reinvent the wheel every time, while not understanding how a wheel works

>We want the cinematic audience.
And braindrain at Square.

That's exactly right, and even then if you were to go into detail about the whole situation, that video would likely end up being a 3 hour long documentary categorising the death of this series.

No talent left.

Spirits Within killed IX's budget, though this may have contributed to some of its better qualities as a "return to form" title
X introduced voice acting which led to every non-rendered cutscene taking just as long as one that was, forcing the game into a more cinematic angle while simultaneously doing away with the classic world map
Generation leap left pretty much all jap devs in a retarded state and XII had already been a divisive game thanks to Matsuno getting jap cold during development
XIII was basically a cutscene simulator tech demo that should've been held back and released as part of XIII-2 as a Dawn of Souls type deal
XIV 1.0 was the singular game botching on par with Sprits Within
XV was practically the equivalent of a crapcom era reboot since its basically a bamham game with an ubisoft tier janky open world. With a gigantic blunder of a multimedia franchise attached to it as well

Now we will get a decade late Skyrim clone for XVI
