FE games shouldn't be that hard to produce considering how they play, so anything that hits ~1M sales for them is a huge profit. Not to mention Heroes made mad bank and 3H won a couple of awards last year.

FE was flop city until its 13th game, it survived on being cheap to make. The moment they caught a whiff of profit they went overshill mode for the series and have not stopped since, its very likely DLC fighter #11 in Smash will be the protag of the next FE game, given likely is on the cards for production very soon.

FE has ALWAYS been popular in Japan.
It just only recently broke into the western market as mainstream.
Same as Monster Hunter.
Believe it or not, but most Japanese Devs have always catered to their home player-base over western ones.
Hence why many Japanese games that were popular in the west, but not as popular in Japan haven't seen nearly as much development.

Such as? Falcon is a popular character because of smash bros so he gets included in the trailers and stuff. The DLC in Mario Kart is the closest we will probably ever get to a new F-zero game.

Wish we could get a new Custom Robo that supported up to 4 v 4 with all parts unlocked straight away. Just build a robo to your playstyle. But I know if they were ever going to bring it back, you wouldn't be able to just buy the game. It'd be F2P with all parts sold as microtransactions.
